We homeschool too. Makes us extra weird. My family although they giggle- respect our choices so I have that! How old are your kids?

They are 7 and 8. My daughter is in 4th grade this year..I'm debating pulling her out at 6th and homeschooling her.

i am liking the personality of these chickens more than many of the other breeds I have. they are so mellow and not easily spooked.

Are these are breed you will keep on having for a while?

Deb, You are so funny... I do the same thing. I keep collecting all the good deals I can find on Craigslist. My husband told me he might have to turn off the internet if I cant stay of craigslist. I laughed and said, do it...I get internet on my Iphone and at work...LOL He is just Joking...I hope...

I have an app on my phone that sends a push anytime there is something on my list from CL. Speaking of it, everyone keep an eye out for my perfect cabinet incubator for 200 bucks!

ALLL our chicken stuff not from Osh was from CL. Except the feeder bottoms...

I have some BCM roosters who even at a young age- I can tell they have ugly combs. This is likely to continue right? I mean he won't turn 10 months old and suddenly have a perfect comb? I should take pics! LOL

Combs don't seem to get better, only worse. If they are funky now, they'll stay that way. What exactly do you mean by funky? If I remember correctly, your boys had too many points on their combs. That definitely won't change (at least without another rooster pecking off a point

) But it's also not a HUGE deal at a show, just a small deduction.

Combs don't seem to get better, only worse. If they are funky now, they'll stay that way. What exactly do you mean by funky? If I remember correctly, your boys had too many points on their combs. That definitely won't change (at least without another rooster pecking off a point

) But it's also not a HUGE deal at a show, just a small deduction.


This pen was being sold by a 27 year old girl. Her mother bought the pen for her a year ago for her dog, but she thought the pen was too small so she didn't use it. I think her mother will kill her when she finds out how much she asked for it.

The pen was literally like brand new. I can usually help carry pen panels, these are too heavy for me to even hold up my end of a panel. This is truly the best pen I've bought. Someone else has the exact same pen on CL right now, $375 FIRM.

You know what is in your food when you grow it your self. Oh somewhere there was a reference to city dwellers in NY high rises--they can grow quail. I would love to see that in an Apartment, but there are people working on this right now in the Bay Area.

One final note, you can process them any time you want to. The two pound ones area bit small, but if they are really mean and try to hurt the kids, that is the time....

Yes, side sprigs are a complete DQ and they just keep growing. You'll also find them on girls, but you have to look much closer.

A squirrel tail is when they are over 90 degrees (more than straight up). There are only a breed or two (don't know for sure if there are others) where it's not a problem (or is desired), such as japanese bantams and serama, to name two. It's supposed to be very difficult to fix once in your lines.
