My Brown Orpington's... Learning to upload from my phone.

Never seen a "brown orp., very interesting--how do you get this color????? I only have a "Buff" at this time.

Got to meet Laura at the Expo, but really sorry to have missed Ron and everyone else. Hubby decided to come and took a half day from work, so I didn't get there until after 3. Talked to lots of other nice folks though, who were all chicken fans! We live only a few miles away from the fairgrounds, but we met exhibitors from as far away as Iowa. Getting to be a big deal, but I wish they could have it open for the weekend. (They do not for religious reasons. No alcohol either.)

Here are a couple more photos.

Wonder the value of all these beautiful tomatoes given how much they charge for them at the store. Mmmmm... craving salsa now!

Ron, did you get any pic's of your Partridge Penedesenca chicks?

see any penedesenca at the show? expo? exposition?

There was one Wheaten Penedesenca. Poor thing had really ratty looking tail feathers. Took pics for you. Sorry, they're not very good.

Maybe someone knows this guy. Max Luedecke.

Thank you. I hope to hatch some Wheatens in the spring. I love that pattern.. Wonder if the feathering was from stress and confinment.
Max are you around ??? Oh Max..

the chickens all seemed quite stressed out -- every single one was twitching its head constantly, even a big rooster that was falling asleep... in contrast, the ducks were all cool as cucumbers, and the bunnies snoozing happily.

the main thing i learned was just how TINY bantams are -- i'd never realized before! definitely enjoyed seeing all the birds, but it was also good to come home and watch my girls running around in the garden.

my only photo:

and replacement chicks for the batch that arrived dead earlier this summer are on the way! USPS tracker says they're currently in Tallahassee, making their way from Georgia to here. hope they arrive in better shape than the last! (they will be two female cream legbars, and two unknown-gender isbars, one black & one splash)

The National Heirloom Exposition still has two more days to go!

There is always next year too.

There were other things besides Animals there. There were cute redwood chicken coops. There was even a thing called a mud hut that you could use in the backyard for naps. I was trying to figure out how to use it for a chicken coop....

Some Veggie pictures:

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Ron

Thanks, Ron!
I couldn't make it yesterday, but I'll be there today. I'm really looking forward to all the great exhibits.

I missed seeing CapayValleryChick. I did get to finally Meet Cheryl.

This little goat loved my Daughter. He tried to climb through the fence to her. He was for sale too. It would have been fun getting into my Honda Civic

I got there around noon or so and was wondering where you were. I saw Karen, Debi, Monet, Maureen, Laurie and a few other BYCers there. It was great to see them again. I followed Walt around for most of the afternoon, watching him evaluate birds and asking him lots of questions. (Hoping he didn't feel like I was stalking him!)

I didn't take any pictures. Did you see the two Buff Orp hens that were side by side? Those two were a great example of commercial type vs exhibition quality. I was happy to see a Delaware. The breeds that I raise are rarely in shows.
Sorry to have missed you and your daughter. I am going back on Thursday, meeting someone who is bringing me her Dorkings.

I think that goat is a Shetland Sheep ram! He would not make a loving pet!
