Papa Brooder, those jubilee orps are some of the fluffiest chicks I have ever seen! All your babies are adorable. Congrats and please post pics as they grow.

I am in Middletown. Just bought a house here and moved from Napa. Grew up in Sonoma Valley though. I have been trying to live in the country my entire life and we have finally succeeded. :)

I have a young Sicilian Buttercup roo if anyone is looking for one... he is free! :) I just have too many boys!

Welcome to the thread! What other breeds do you have?

I would love to see pictures of you Horse and Sicilian Buttercup chickens.

Quite a few! White and Partridge Cochins, Black Sumatra, Silkie, and a few mutts. I think they are Orp/Cochin/somethings. I am a sucker for big fat girls :)

I am still adding to my flock. I'd like Orps, Brahmas and more Cochins.

If you want to add to your flock, this thread is perfect for you! So many breeders hatching beautiful birds. Chicken math is rampant!

Oh, and we do love pictures.

Well shoot, another one of my chicks died. I knew it wouldn't make it through the night. It was the small one and I knew it wouldn't make it, just waiting for it to die so I could send it off to UC Davis. I never treated them with the antibiotics. Within a few days of deciding if I should or not the little one lost ground while the other three grew so I figured this would be the situation. The remaining three are growing normally and really beautiful. Looks like one cockerel (and gorgeous) and two pullets. If the results are the black mold then I'm going to move these three up to the grow out pen and let them be chickens, they made it through.

Amy Beth, I think you talked about how unfriendly Marans are. I've been a little frustrated with the fact that these little guys aren't very friendly. After keeping them in the garage, they've had lots of interaction with us but they still run like maniacs when they see anyone coming and squeal when we pick them up. Even my broody chicks come up to me and don't run off when they see me. They are beautiful but I wish they were a little less freaked out.

Welcome and congrats on moving to the country! You must be so excited to wake up in the morning to the sound of nature and crowing roos. Good luck on rehoming your roo.

Thanks! We are over the moon! Nothing is better than freezing your butt off in the morning while going out to check the animals :) It was 30 degrees this morning brrr!

Anyway, I am a bad chicken mom and I forgot about my Salmon Faverolles and Ameraucana chicks. Not sure how I could forget because they are peeping away in my bathroom currently.

Photos! Here you are!

My older babies, Cochins, Sicilian Buttercups, black sumatra. All hens except for that obvious boy :)

Salmon Faverolles and Ameraucanas.

The mutts. They are a couple months old. I got them from a good friend who raises them organically and naturally. So far I adore them. 4 hens and 3 roos

I'll take some updated photos of our place. We have only been here for a few weeks but its coming along :) We have a LONG way to go.
