It's large and squishy. She is NOT acting bothered in the least by it but it makes her extra heavy- that cannot be fun to carry around at all. I do chicken checks on these guys all the time but kicking myself for missing this! No other symptoms. Incredibly alert and a little annoyed by the attention haha!

I'm interested in the co-op feed drop! I currently using King feed but if we can get a better feed for about the same price that would be wonderful.

Amy - what is your roost made of? Mine is a 2X4 wide end up and I've never had any issue like this. If it says to drain it, I would probably just insert a needle and draw out the fluid that way.

I swear God is keen on me experiencing everything that can go wrong with chickens. lol I have a chicken with what I think is breast blister. Her chest is HUGE and when she runs it flops around. It is hot to touch. I briefly read up on it (still working on it) but it said poor litter management. DUDE these guys are free ranged they only spend the night in their coop. On a roost. It's far from ill managed. Anyone dealt with this before? It's one of my black orp/black copper marans mixes. :|

For any blister, I would definitely drain it. Try poking it with a needle to open it up. Then just press on it with some gauze.

We all know your chickens are far from ill managed. They probably have outdated info in that book obviously they can get it another way.

Also if you cam coco butter has always worked good for blisters. Might be kind of hard to get that through here feathers. But if you can it might help once you get the blister drained.

It's a board- I am not good with size but I think it's a 2x4 and it's on it's side rather than flat. I texted my husband about 30 minutes ago and asked him to flip it over so the wide side was what they were resting on. I bet that is it. I never even considered it would be an issue but I want to fix it before someone else has an issue.

I think we caused it by having the roost board turned the wrong way. She is getting big (they all are lol) and she still doesn't have a lot of meat on her chest so she must have been resting heavily on that when sleeping. I will have to pick up a needle syringe. I have the ones without needles lol. It says to flush with a potassium solution when done draining...I am not sure what that is exactly are how to make it...

I know she is a mix but I really actually like how she is looking! I can see Black Orp in her. Tomorrow I will drain the blister. I just need to figure out what the potassium thing is.
