If mine got the message, then hers should too :)

my oldest girls are about 21 weeks now, so please start sending the egg message their way as well! although i realize that with the shortening days, they may not start until the new year...

Tina,
I think size 6 is to small. I have some of the kind you used before. You are more then welcome to them...
I like the rubber bands batter, so I got the size 6, but to me they look like they would be tight when they are full grown. the other ones i got are a 11 or 12. so that is what i was thinking size 6 be to small. I couldnt find bigger size on E-bay for the rubber bands.

hubby building me a barn style chicken coop. my roos are in the front yard and now rain in the forecast they need a coop. Hubby has a sat home and will be working in the barn on my chicken barn. then for that i will take him to dinner in Roseville, LOL :0

You probably don't want my feed bill though. I have 23 pens of birds, around 200+ chickens. Right now the majority of the eggs come from four pens, with a few other eggs here and there. Most of the birds are slackers (or boys)! I also have quite a few quail, some fairly young, but I get a dozen eggs a day from them as well.

Going to Apple Hill today with the Family

I'm STILL waiting on a first egg from my German NH, and they hatched out last Feb/Mar and are HUGE!

I think my chickens got the message about eggs cause I got one this morning :D

Now it might not be exciting to anyone but this is my first egg since I got chickens for our new place so I am thrilled!  Its a small light brown, perfectly shaped egg.

Oh wow! That's a nice 1st egg! Lots of bloom on it! One of my RIR pullets laid her 1st 2 days ago. It looks almost identical to yours! Hopefully se. Goes hard for the next week and pumps em out!

Which chicken was it? Do you know?

That's soo awesomely nice of you!

I've been building a lot lately too.

Hey about the leg-bands, at Wal-Mart they have packs of multi colored/ multi sized zips ties.
They are really easy to put on the birds. Especially if you have 1 person to hold the birds. They also are flat so I found that I could write with a permanent marker names or numbers.
All my Barred Rock pullets from July hatch have yellow bands with their individual numbers. (ex. #4 four)

And you font have to wait to get them.

IF ANYONE WANTS THEM I HAVE 3 BOXES OF THE METAL LEGS BANDS 100PK BRAND NEW FOR FREE!!
I dont want them. I like the zip ties better.

I am pretty sure it was one of the buff hens. When I closed them up last night she was in this nest.

The girls definitely got the message! The white hen settled in the same nest about 10 am today and laid a slightly larger egg but the same color.
