California - Northern

It was a weird storm here too. We also had tornado warnings. We lost power, but thankfully for my eggs in the incubator, only for a few minutes. At one point the wind in front of our house was blowing like crazy and not a bit of breeze on the back of my house.

wow how is everyone weather wise?
we have rain hail and slush and is now about 39 degrees
In Woodland we had rain. It all soaked in and everything stayed put in the yard. The feeders all worked out well except for the pen with the TJ chicks, one basque and two Penes. The younger chicks seemed hungry like they did not figure out how to get up into the feeder. I put a chick feeder in there this morning.

Remember these guys? They are three weeks old tomorrow, so the temp should be what 75 to 80 for them? They have never had a heat lamp since I use the Ecoglow 20.

Last night I turned the light off without putting them under the ecoglow. This morning they were huddled together in the corner and when I turned the light on the got up and started happily chirping and eating their food. They are in a Garage without heat, so it must have been closer to 50 in there.

It has not been that long since the Weather service admitted we had Tornados in CA. Last night we had 5 reported tornados. The one in Yuba City was an F1 with 100 mile per hour winds. It lifted a boat and moved it.

Oddly, nothing woke me up last night.

I have a hard time not feeling bad about how cold it is and not putting the heat on the birds- even though they are grown. haha I am always soooo cold!

How exciting! Did you get a golden feather membership?

So nervous. I am having a Sulmtaler rooster shipped to me from Arizona. First time I am having an adult bird shipped. So nerve racking but what's one to do? I have two Sulmtaler girls and no boy. Hope the weather cooperates as this boy ain't ever seen rain. LOL

Ron, your photos on the CA thread made me smile, even though they were depicting a sad situation for the chickens.

I posted on the CA thread about me shipping off my chickens to be butchered, yesterday, at New American Poultry. I wanted to show how they came back-didn't want to offend anyone on that thread-so thought I would post the pic here. Warning-it's gross!

EEEEEeeewwwwww! LOL! I don't think that I can eat these! They're lookin at me! They even still have the leg bands on ROTFLOL!
