ha, ha, we should start saving those lists in some keepsake box just to see how crazy we really are.  funny how it works. I finally decided to sell my brahmas only to buy more brahmas.  What is wrong with me!  I'm just gonna work on the the buff though and let mr, mike work on everything else, eh mike?!  i know that's why i keep ending up with... just gotta build more coops.  Good for you getting a group together though! just a few weeks away from some more pure eggs! :-)

I will have two more coops together by the end of the week . I just need to decide who I want to incubate next...?? Swedish flower hens, BBS orps, Icelandics, or BBS marans... The rest will have to wait. I put a tray of jubilees & Cream Legbars in the Incubater today....:D Good thing I only sent you with three Cream Legbar Pullets. I had a lady come buy 4 after work tonight.

You would need a truck for the brooder. It is 8 feet long. They hold ALOT of chicks..
"TRUE STORY"

wow, I just started counting chicks in my head. i have no self control. Alright redding get ready for the silky/sizzle onslaught. Not to mention, now the light sussex have to go. the silver spangled hamburgs have to go. I may have to sell the wheaten marans pair. and the bantam cochins may have to go as well. Hmm, lemon cuckoo orps may have to go but still holding out hope for those. I may have to suck it up and build a few more pens this weekend!!
Ohhh did I miss something that you are getting rid of so many breeds?

you know, you might try leaving everyone ( ducks included) in their coops for the day and see how many eggs you get. I have a feeling you might have girls laying all over the place. Somewhere in the easement next to us Miss Fury has hid about 30 eggs, and a few from the girls she convinceved to go onto the dark side too. Some chickens just like to be sneaky, and if one chicken gets away wiht it, everyone else starts to think its a good idea.

Now here is a picture of silkie heaven...

THAT story is going to have to wait until we move warehouses this week!

PS, the banties will TRY with the large fowl.. but you have to worry about the large roos an the small hens. love ( or Lust) knows no bounds. Next ime Ill take a pic of my nn showgirl/marans...
I actually did that last week! hehe NO stinking eggs from the chickens and no more than normal for the ducks. Today was a big day here though. We have 11 ducks and only 5 are laying. We get 5 eggs a day. Well today we got our first day of 6 eggs. So duck #6 is a layin' (new egg too I am learning to be able to see these things haha). AND no lie- I did the pelvic test on the ducks (external lol). Robyn our black indian runner her pelvic bones could barely fit one of my skinny fingers a few days ago. Today? Almost 3 fingers! I know she is the new layer! She is one of the oldest ducks in the group and she JUST started laying? LOL

And then someone (a buff chick or the bantam wyandotte) laid a pretty beige egg under the tree. I know all their spots and I have few ideas of places I need to check tomorrow too! End of the week I will do another lockdown. I am hoping my banty starts laying. It seems like with the ducks- as soon as ONE duck started laying then several began to lay quickly and then when 1 started laying in the box they all followed suit. So I hope Lady will show those huge pullets how it's done. lol

Ohhhhhhhhhhh look at those wee chickies! Love!

Phew, nice on the sale! I had my trailer with me, not when I came that day but had it at inlaws. That's the only way I can get my chicken haul home! plus some stuff we left at the inlaws house. I'm still thinking about something like that but missed my window so I may have to build one instead. :-(

been trying to downsize for months, but I actually added the chocolate orp project birds this weekend so now I need to make space for them. I did find that when I decided to let the basques and brahmas go, I did actually feel better after. something about knowing i'll have more space to experiment. I still need to get rid of 3 more I think OR I just have to build a very big layer coop and then keep pairs/trios of some of the birds and just rotate them through a breeding pen or two. lately, i've been having about 50 chickens free ranging and since a lot of my pens appear to not be starting up laying I'm moving towards everyone free ranging save the 3-5 pens that i am actively needing to hatch to build my flock up for spring. I noticed a substantial drop in my feed needs after free ranging as many as i could. now, i am down 21 roos so that should bring the feed bill down quite a bit too!

Keep me posted on the wheaten marans. I was reading the wheaten marans thread earlier.
Might be something I'd be interested in. ;)

Yes sir! I can't wait to get my new Gold Laced Brahmas!
Thanks for toting them around for me bro! I really appreciate it. Anytime I can return the favor, you know don't hesitate to ask!

Crap! My wellie cockerel that is now gone was starting to mate and my only wellie pullet that I REALLY need for breeding is limping badly. She just lays down during the day. I need her to recover! She's from another breeder and I want her genes in my flock.
