SO relieved about 30 -- my university's budget remains bad, but without 30 it would have gone off a cliff...

A friend just responded to my FB post, this is what he doesI've heard a lot of breeders use it - haven't tried it myself yet. But I do hear good things about it.
That sounds like a good combo! The only problem that I have with mixing BOSS, etc. in with the feed is that they shovel out the food to get to the treats. I have vertical PVC feeders and have no problem with them spilling/shoveling the feed out as long as I don't have any whole grains or seeds mixed in with the pellets. Feed is so expensive that I hate to see it on the ground around the bottom of the feeders. Every morning, I do give them a mixture of plain yogurt, Dr. Cheekes supplement, and shredded vegies or fruit. I also toss them a mixture of King's Calexico, BOSS, and seeds. I think that I will look into getting some Calf Manna to add in the mix! Concord Feed is supposed to carry it. Has anyone bought it there?A friend just responded to my FB post, this is what he does
2/3 Pro Am Show N Grow Pellets - king feed
1/6 COB (scratch)
1/6 Black Oil Sunflower
then 10% Calf Manna and a bit of Dr Cheekes supplement, also king
They don't have it, but have what they say is "just as good" something from PurinaThat sounds like a good combo! Oh, boo! Maybe I'll call Scotts Valley Feed and see if they carry it. I'm sure George will love to stop and pick some up for me!They don't have it, but have what they say is "just as good" something from Purina
The Walmart in Livermore is supposed to have it.Our local Walmart actually carries the Calf Manna.
Quote: I'm pretty sure the label on Calf Manna says 1oz per bird per day (don't quote me LOL). I just started using it and feed it like scratch or a treat. If I mix it in the feed...they pick through the regular food to get just the Calf Manna. It's too soon to tell any results from the added nutrition. I do notice the birds that eat too much of it at one time have red poops from the red coloring of the pellets. They eat it like "chicken crack" .

The First ingredient is Soy. Sorry, a non starter for me.
