I hear you Man!

I candled tonight. I removed another stinky one and one blood ring. two look like clears but the rest seem to have some action. These are very hard to see into. I see veins in one, but the rest just have darkness. I did see movement in around 5.

26 went into the incubator. 1 Blood ring and 3 stinky ones leaves 22. 2 of those are probably clears so 20 are still possible.

At this point I am fairly sure some will hatch. I hope we get a bunch of fluffy butts....

I candled yesterday and most of the lavender marans are developing!! Bad fertility on the partridge brahmas but they are molting :(

anyone with isbars consider trying to breed olive eggers? I wonder if since they have green eggs if they would be like second generation olive eggers if breed with a dark layer? Maran , Wellie or penedesenca. I wanna add 3 hens with my white empordanesa until I can find more emp's. was thinking Splash Isbars. In theory the green isbar eggs with the dark brown Empordanesa eggs would be olive and darker than a Ameraucana over the White Empordanesa..
Molly's Splash Isbar's intrigued me.

I have 2 pairs of black Isbars from greenfire available

Look what I found today. Guess what she is sitting on?

Rocks. I shooed her out and when I walked out - she walked back in. Lmbo

I'm going to go see if she has left yet to go forage with the group.

THANKS SO MUCH KIM!!!! I didn't know you are a vet...so cool

I"M NOT A VET! That is a quote from someone else. I thought you might like to know. I'm just a farmer... preservationist farmer ... prior early childhood teacher. I'm freaked out by blood & needles, would never be a vet.

I woke up this morning to a sick chicken. She has some yellow nasal discharge, slight wheezy sound, and seems to smell a little more than usual. I found her sitting on the roost and she was not interested in treats at all which is very atypical of this girl. The only medications that I have on hand are Sulmet and Denagard. If you had to choose, which one would you use? I know that I could post this on the emergencies/diseases thread but I know that I'll hear back from the members on this thread.

She left me an egg and she was still stinking in there. Bit like crazy when I took her egg and then bit me more when I dragged her broody butt outside. What did she do? Stood there immobile. What the heck? I walked off and she went back to her box. :/ ahhhh I know I said I wanted a broody but now I'm stressed out. Lmbo.

I'm picking up a dogloo and some TJ eggs because I can get my hands on them real fast.

Papa rooster- can I get some EE eggs from you this weekend if I can't get her to leave her box?

I would use duramycin or tylan, that said duramycin is no longer available (manuf problem) but I know the feed store near the ranch just got in a new antibiotic that they say will work just as good as duramycin. I can't remember the name of the drug, but maybe call Rhodies and see if they have any left.

Did you drag her away from the rest and quarantine her? Smelly discharge isn't good. Are your chickens pets or do you breed? I personally would quarantine her, give her some fresh water laced with vitamins/electrolytes and some scrambled egg. And wait and watch a little bit before administering antibiotics. Those treat bacterial infections, not viral. If it's viral it won't treat what is wrong anyway. If it is viral watch your flock for more to start showing symptoms. I hope the others can offer something more comprehensive. I cull for this. :( I hate doing it but I am so worried about my other chickens- that's why I would wait and see if the others start showing symptoms. If they don't - could be bacterial and the antibiotics could really help.

I am super paranoid with respiratory stuff though.
