Can anyone tell me what kinda of chick they think this is...the people at the feed store didn't have a clue. I was looking for a pullet but this was the closest they had. They weren't sure if it was a female either. Poor thing looks kinda haggard...maybe he/she will be ok.
which feed store did you get it at? Most of them only stock pullets. It is definitely crested and has lots of juvenile feathers...I couldn't see the feet but they look clean (no feathers?).

Chickie looks like it is about 6 weeks old and appears to have a "toppy" or a "crest"of some kind. The couple of curved tail feathers is suggestive of a roo but it is still a toss-up. Breed, haven't a clue! :)

Yeah she was the largest they had...I was looking for one a little older than a full on chick. She's going to be buddie for the 8 week old barred rock that lost her sister to a dog. So far so good...our barred rock is being nice to her.

thanks!  I received my first batch of chickens from a lady in Tehachapi, I had no idea how much I was going to enjoy this.  Hope you are too =)

Yeah it's great...my family and I get a kick out of watching them doing there chicken stuff. Most of them are a lot smarter than I would have ever thought.

I picked her up at the feed store in inyokern while I was passing thru. They had a big sign ( baby chicks). Just thought I'd see what they had...they almost sold me a turkey. But I chose her since she was the oldest they had. And yes no feathes on the feet...but her feet are almost black. My daughter thinks she's a raven.

I was wondering because I usually check the feed stores in Tehachapi to see what they have in stock. There is a hatchery in your area, Signature Poultry, have you heard of them? My sister-in-law was interested in their stock.
