Can anyone give advice on what they use for the floor of the run? We have a large coop and an enclosed run that is partly cement and dirt. I only have 3 birds, but the smell is pretty strong. Should I put sand down? They have hay in the coop.

I have sand, and I can't smell anything. (I should ask the neighbors on this.) I have a sifting shovel that works just like a kitty litter scoop.

Hi All!! I desperately need to get rid of a bunch of roosters. Is anyone interested in smooth Frilkies (splash), Speckled Sussex, A white silkie, A black silkie, Heritage RIR Golden Sebrights, bantam EE and a bunch of others. 20170713_092403.jpg 20170713_092437.jpg 20170713_092450.jpg 20170713_092801.jpg 20170713_092804.jpg 20170713_092807.jpg 20170713_092814.jpg 20170713_092955.jpg 20170713_092957.jpg 20170713_093007.jpg 20170713_093100.jpg 20170713_093439.jpg 20170713_094355.jpg

Your birds are beautiful! If I had more experience I would consider. I saw there are quite a few people on this site from here in so cal. I'm sure you'll find someone soon.

I did see on the last page of thread. I can tell sex of chicken someone asking about roosters.

Hello fellow southern Californians! I'm new to the site as a whole and in my intro thread it was suggested I find my state. So, here I am! (you can find that intro here if you're interested!)

I'm in Pine Valley, VERY "SoCal" as we're only about 20 miles from the border (if that). And we're 45 miles east of San Diego (I've found even local folks aren't always familiar with PV!). Right now we're enjoying our first CA summer.....hot as heck and nary a drop of rain in sight! :p

My girls -- a Blue Andalusian, a Golden Polish, and a Black Australorp -- are 13 weeks old and growing quickly. Looking forward to eggs sometime this fall!
