California Tan from TSC

I called Hoover hatchery where they come from. They told me they were a cross between a production red and a white leghorn.
This makes sense. My California Tan was pale yellow with a black dot on her back as a chick, then all white with that same black dot once she feathered out. Now that she's 18 weeks old and has completed her juvenile molt, she's white with some faint red feathers... not quite laced, but it has a similar effect from far away. She's got a beautiful large single comb like white leghorn, but those new reddish feathers are more like my golden comets and ISA brown. I used to think she was the most plain looking one in our flock, but she's really turned out to be a gorgeous bird. Looks and acts like she'll be laying soon, but I can't find any info online about when California Tans start producing.

Edited to add that uh... she may be a rooster after seeing pics on here of other 4 month olds... 😅.

I have 8 California Tans and only one is laying. She started at 14 weeks.

*Update * I originally bought my three california tans to replace a previous batch that had all but one died off from the week before. Now my girls are around 15 weeks old and are laying (for sure two of them daily) about three days ago I had one hard shelled and two soft shelled eggs. I am no longer getting any soft shelled eggs, they seem to have matured quickly and I am at the moment only getting small eggs from them and they are darker in color then my green queen who lays a brown egg. While they were growing I thought one of them was going to be a rooster as she was larger than the others and high stepped as she walked and the first to have her comb and wattles turn red. However she has been laying cute little brown eggs (so that mystery solved). I attached a bunch of photos of the girls, one with some of their yard mates visible. The egg photos I tried to do comparison on size, I don't think it worked out so well or conveyed they way I was hoping. Has anyone else's California tans matured this quick or is this normal. I just got 6 Austra whites and my broody mama is raising them and they kinda remind me of these girls in coloring and black spots. The babies don't stay still for long to get any good shots, the little dark one is the only one that hatched out of 7 fertile eggs I bought to my broody mama could hatch them out. I honestly thought none was going to hatch, so I bought the 6 Austra whites. Post office did me wrong on my fertile eggs. They really didn't have a chance. Hope ya'll enjoy the photos.
