Just got home. Rockette is standing. The leg goes out just a bit, but she's just turned around without falling when I sprinkles some gamebird grower behind her. I'm going to keep her inside for at least another day, but I think she's going to be ok. At least I hope so. She's in a narrow box, so she can keep her leg close and so she'll have to stand and I think it's working!

Yea. I was just sick over it. I can't believe she was just hanging there upside down. The top of her middle toes is scraped, not really cut. I think her weight just pushed the netting down just enough to make a space under the board . She must have gotten scared and tryed to jump. That's how I'm seeing it. I always get plastic bags flying into my yard and I walked past her 3 times before I realized what was hanging there. My lights don't work out by my garage and I had a little mad light to use for feeding and watering. When I realized she was there I freaked out and thought whatever bird is was was dead. Then when I saw it was Rockette I was just devistated. I didn't realize she was alive until I lifted her upright. Then she just went balistic. She had just kind of wondered away or run off when anyone goes outside. Unless of course there's a treat envolved, so maybe she's figure out just how loved she is now. She still has an attitude, but at this point I don't care. Just happy to see her trying to stand. Now if that leg will go under her a little more and she starts running I'm good.

Kim,
So glad to hear Rockette is so much better. Aaron & I were setting up the new quail cages today. I had them made with an egg rollout tray. So now lwts see if I can make them work.......LOL. You know how I love to recycle, reuse, repurpose, whatever you want to call it. We discovered that the old feeders from the 1960s when this place was the old West Egg Ranch fit the new quail cages perfectly so I used big zip ties & strapped them to the outside of the cages. I can't wait to see how they are going to work. I was going to go to the shop & cut metal & bend it into feeders...........This is soooooooooooooooooo much easier & it is recycling. Aaron is going to run PVC pipe with nipple aterers in it through the cages. I set each cage up on an empty peach bin. I think it will work. I stapped a 2" by 3" on the back bottom of the cage to make a slant for the eggs to roll. We will see. I guess only time will tell now. The A & M whites aren't laying yet, but I think there about 50 of them in a growout pen. The Jumbo browns are in the brooders in the front porch & gbing be 4 to 7 eggs a day now with lights. They don't seem to eat too much either. I am feeding them broiler crumbles that is 17%.

Anyone looking for some nice Delaware cockerels? I sold the pullets out of that pen today to a return customer that had bought hatching eggs & got a really nice cockerel out of them but wanted more pullets...................Doesn't everyone? There are a few cockerels that will be good fryers before long or breeders if you want to raise them up.

Karen, I have 2 more waterers for you. I will be at the sale tomorrow but maybe we can meet over the weekend. I would like to see what you have left that you are selling so maybe I can deliver them.
