Kim,
So glad to hear Rockette is so much better. Aaron & I were setting up the new quail cages today. I had them made with an egg rollout tray. So now lwts see if I can make them work.......LOL. You know how I love to recycle, reuse, repurpose, whatever you want to call it. We discovered that the old feeders from the 1960s when this place was the old West Egg Ranch fit the new quail cages perfectly so I used big zip ties & strapped them to the outside of the cages. I can't wait to see how they are going to work. I was going to go to the shop & cut metal & bend it into feeders...........This is soooooooooooooooooo much easier & it is recycling. Aaron is going to run PVC pipe with nipple aterers in it through the cages. I set each cage up on an empty peach bin. I think it will work. I stapped a 2" by 3" on the back bottom of the cage to make a slant for the eggs to roll. We will see. I guess only time will tell now. The A & M whites aren't laying yet, but I think there about 50 of them in a growout pen. The Jumbo browns are in the brooders in the front porch & gbing be 4 to 7 eggs a day now with lights. They don't seem to eat too much either. I am feeding them broiler crumbles that is 17%.
Anyone looking for some nice Delaware cockerels? I sold the pullets out of that pen today to a return customer that had bought hatching eggs & got a really nice cockerel out of them but wanted more pullets...................Doesn't everyone? There are a few cockerels that will be good fryers before long or breeders if you want to raise them up.
