Well as usual when I do something it isn't simple. Add that to the fact that the ER dr set my wrist wrong (horribly wrong!) and of course now I have to put a plate in. When the ortho dr saw the xray, he asked if they told me I'd need surgery and I told them they said I could possibly, but they did a pretty good job. The ortho dr shook his head and called another in and I had to tell him what they said and he looked shocked.
The way my wrist is set, I'd never be able to rotate my wrist, the pain will stay and it would be a deformity. It's hurt so bad since I broke it, I was thinking it was just me being a cry baby, but now I know why it hurts so bad.
My husband had just had his wrist removed when I met him. I know how hard it was to do things and how frustrated he was with it. He still worked in the OR, but he said he had to learn ways to do what he needed to without screwing up.
So they say I need surgery and ask "What kind of funds do you have?"
Explained waiting for the VA and they looked at me like I had 2 heads and asked again. They told me to go to another hospital, take my xrays and tell them I was in excussiating (sp) pain and needed my wrist fix. He said since it's been over 2 weeks I need to get this done in the next day or two or it will be too late.
The dr I saw reminds me of a surgeon that Bill used to assist. Very matter of fact and blunt. So, no eating or drinking after 8pm and into the hospital in the morning.
Only positive thing that happened today, I went back to the VA Service office and no one could get through to ChampVA to get my insurance straight, but my husband's rep had them on the phone in 5 minutes and Dakotah and I will be getting our cards in 5 to 10 days! Finally. You'd never believe how many times and how many hours my daughter and I have been trying to even get a human on the phone. They had Dakotah's first and last name reversed, so that's fixed and I can get him a very long awaited checkup.
Still have to figure out how I'm going to get there and back, but going in around 6am.
I'm worried about my animals. I couldn't function the day after I fell . Now surgery? I'm stressing.
