Hello All,

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is looking for people to adopt the survivors from the A&L Poultry farm, Turlock, CA tragedy. About 2,000 birds are healthy enough to be rescued and homes are now needed.

They are monitoring the case and are considering their legal options to ensure justice for the tens of thousands of birds who suffered a horrific death in this shocking case of cruelty. (There was an estimated 50,000 chickens found starving after they were left without feed for over two weeks.)

If you can support the ALDF in their mission, please visit their Animal Place's adoption page, if you can help.

Thank you for your time and support,
for the animals,

I keep thinking about Wolftracks(Kim) today. I hope all is well with the Surgery and she gets full use of the Wrist back

So I was reminded Kim this morning when I heard a strange noise coming from the little coup where my 10 week old chicks are living. I thought one of them was hurt, so started walking over there and realized it was one of the roosters trying to crow! I guess I need to get that hutch into the garage real soon now.

One of them is a very nice white EE Rooster. The other one that I think is a Rooster is Lavender with brownish red on the shoulders in four spots.

I will try to get pictures today.

I hope Kim is hanging in there today. It's a bummer being without an arm.

My husband is finally making my quail coops this weekend. They're turning out to be more like quail fortresses. They won't be done until Monday or Tuesday, when he gets the roofing material from his dad's house, but they're coming along nicely. We decided to wall them in with hardware cloth after all, as the green garden fence stuff I got was just too flexible and I was worried about predators breaking in. The hutches will be near my dog run, so until he dies, coons won't be much of a problem, but he's getting old.

There are two of them, each 3 x 8, divided into four enclosures. I'll have about 20 quail in each section for now, but I'm only keeping about 20 as breeders, so I'll spread them out a little more after we butcher the rest.
