WV is giving you great adviceI'm off to bed so hopefully she can take the day shift, lol.
Ok thank you not planning on today but if get to tomorrow and I think it still looks like it’s pushing against the membrane I’ll try... so scared but don’t want to lose them either if I can help them. How long can they be like that trying to get through before it’s too long? X
Ok great thank you all so much... I will leave for the moment and make a safe hole in the two active ones which I haven’t yet tonight... and see how they do themselves... one eggs just really moved about which is encouraging as haven’t seen that yet... keeping fingers crossed they can manage on their own... I will keep you posted xSince you have done a safe hole, you *can* wait longer than 24 hours from the time they internally pipped. Its a fine line of when to help, its a judgement call. If you can tell that they are active and peeping and pecking, waiting is fine to see if they progress on their own. But if you decide to help, then yes, widen the hole and moisten the membrane. Look for big active blood vessels. If they are still very prominent, just moisten the membrane and put back in the incubator.
If the blood vessels look receded, or if the beak needs a little more wiggle room, I proceed to open a bit more.
