Generally by 24 hours is when I will take the air cell off, so I would say if you've seen no activity by that point, go ahead and start opening the air cell.

Ok so I have made a slight hole in egg... as I could hear it creeping etc... but as I have no idea I’m not sure if there is still like the inside of the egg film over it or membrane although no veins he is very vocal still I have popped him back in incubator? Xx

what you have exposed is just the outer membrane. There is another membrane between the duckling and the air cell.

You can safely peel away most of the area in your black circle. Of course being careful where it meets the duckling.

edit to add - it's the inner membrane that you don't want to tear. Moisten it and check for blood vessels.
