Call Ducks Finally Hatched

So trying not to get too ahead of myself here. BUT the two black/white ducklings that just hatched...well they looked a little dirty, so did the one that I thought was all white. WELL it turns out its not dirt, it's dark coloring because they are TRIS!!! Black, buff, and white!!! Then the one that I thought is all white is buff and white!!'
NICE!!!!!

Yes 99.5 and slightly longer by hours or days? No pips yet. No bad smell either.
Are these the ONLY thing you have in lockdown? If so you will be OK, let them do there thing, They should be cracking real soon, as long as they are still moving your OK. try to give them there due date although I usually have ONE that wants to come out early on day 25. 99.5 is a very good temp. I would try to keep the humidity at 65.

No they can not get sticky in lockdown, the only thing that could happen is if the Humidity gets to high like 80-85 it will kill them, WAY to high for them.
They have to lose so much water during day one threw 23 if they don't this causes them to get sticky, usually stickiness is cause because you are trying to hatch multiple at different due days and raising the humidity up for those that go into lockdown in the same incubator.

so you really want to avoid that and the best way is to either hatch all at the same time or have a second incubator ready for lockdown. The only time you can cause shrink wrap is if they are cracked or you have the safe hole and you keep opening up the bator, when temp goes down there membrane shrivers up. So if they have not cracked or there's no safe hole, you can't shrink wrap them. So you are OK, I would just sit and wait, if there due date comes and there's nothing still, get a hold of me and will see what the heck's going on.

There's NO need to ever have to help a duck or a chicken totally out. You have to let them do it on there own, if you do not, you can cause them to die early. helping them get there heads ouut is as far of help that you want to go....They need to accomplish using there legs to get the shell off so they build up some strength in there little legs.. Remember they are confined in a shell will NO muscle control.. so as little help from you as possible so getting heads out is safe but that is as far as you need to go.

Right now you don't need to worry about any of that, let them run there course, give them there due dates..

It is normal for them to try and "eat" their bedding when you first put it in? I've been watching them and haven't actually seen them swallow any but they are doing their little sifting thing through it and making me nervous. I don't want any impacted babies.
YES totally normal, they like to nibble on everything, Sassy likes to nibble on the newspaper that have covered up with fine pine. She digs her beak down under the pine and yanks up the newspaper shredding it. She is messy..

Good lord I had a lot of catching up, I hope I got to everyone. LOL

Well I'm hear to let you all know, SASSY, loves the fox song, I was singing it today and she was peeping every time. WOO HOOO, I have a friend that loves "what did the fox say".. WOOO HOOOO,,

I am OK, the eggs are OK. No need worrying about us. Actual hatch time and date should be Tuesday at 2pm. I am definately not rushing in to make safe holes or anything else. All is quiet and looking good. I am just looking at hatching articles.

Some of my friends want me to get into Buttons, but from what I understand they have to stay in the house, can't have that, I have a cat who seems to enjoy killing if it's in the house...  Lost some Gambels because of her.  GRRRRRR

Hello I knew you'd show up sooner or later!! LOL.

Nope mine are outside. They are a little more touchy about temps when they are young. They are so tiny as hatchlings that you have to watch the temp to make sure it's high enough and they sit in the brooder a bit longer than most.but other than that they are great.

I know a lot of people keep them inside because they are tiny and easy to care for. Everyone I know has them outside though in outdoor aviaries.

Nice, I always wonder if the Blues had a weak gene or something I've hatched out three and they didn't survive, got really weak and died, strange but it's the only color that I have not ben able to get to live long.

You know I don't know. Not sure if Anconas are the same as calls in that aspect but interestingly enough, the upside down backwards baby? Was the blue.
