You should be able to see some wiggling! they will get very active, then all of a sudden STOP for 24 hours. That's there resting day before popping out...

Hello I knew you'd show up sooner or later!! LOL.

Nope mine are outside. They are a little more touchy about temps when they are young. They are so tiny as hatchlings that you have to watch the temp to make sure it's high enough and they sit in the brooder a bit longer than most.but other than that they are great.

I know a lot of people keep them inside because they are tiny and easy to care for. Everyone I know has them outside though in outdoor aviaries.
So do they need a heating lamp all the time??? How low of a temp can they tolerate? Because in winter we get some low low temps. like in the negatives.

I would like to see your temp up higher, closer to 100 I would suggest trying to cover the incubator to help keep the heat in. Not the whole thing just half of it.

I don't think so. Mine are outside without a heat lamp. I just provide them with bedding. I threw some hay in there for them to make nests out of. I would assume as long as they have a nesting box and there's more than 2 (so they can cuddle up) they should be fine... Not sure though. I'm in central Florida so the temp doesn't get low enough to worry about in regards to that.

PM me your address and I'll send you some eggs if you want. They are so tiny and light. Be a couple weeks though I've been letting them brood their own!

That's pretty hard to find in button quail I guess so I've been letting mine do it, had one successful hatch so far, we'll see how the 2nd go around is'

do they jump a lot or are they pretty calm, can they be combined with Chickens? I have my Cortunix quails in with my baby chicks now because they were sooooo cool in there coop and my baby chicks have a heating lamp, so far all good, no deaths. LOL, they all seem to be getting long, I think it's just because they want to be warm. LOL.. It's been down in the 20s at night here..

I have to wait until my duck eggs are done, they will be out by the end of this month, I don't want to start them while I have the ducks going.

They are alright with other breeds as chicks. I've heard that coturnix will kill them but haven't tested it. If your chickens are ok with other birds then they will be ok with the buttons. The concern is that other birds will kill them because of how small they are.

Thu are spastic, fly up and hit Their heads constantly. Since they have been in the big coop they have really called down.

Let me know if they Are still laying I'll send you some. I don't feel comfortable charging for them though since they are so fragile.
