Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I love his head markings. What to do with him though.

Yay! Welcome to house-duckdom!

As for bringing in a mate, to be honest I'd be up for that as a viable option...Wobbles is in full breeding mode and as a result my hands are being....erm..."overbred". I'd hoped to have found a mate for him by now, but I wasn't able to. You should see how he attacks my cats, my husband, my stuffed animals, even!

But if it is genetic, that's a ticking time bomb. Even if it's a recessive trait, you just never know. As long as you keep tabs on the female and keep her eggs for yourself instead of sell them, it should be okay.

...Any update on 18angovem's clutch?

He's a sleep, he's gonna contact me tomorrow about 4pm then will proceed from there.

I think I will check with my vet although he did hint to me when this first came about to put him down.

Omg I just couldn't though.

I know what you mean, Wobbles had plenty of issues growing up 'cuz he was so weak coming out of the egg but he is, literally and figuratively, my baby!

Speaking on the call duck hatching thing, my breeder that im geting mine from just put some into the incubator but he never seems to help them, said they pop right out when ready, but then his calls have some of the smallest bills how is this possible

Then he's either lying, has a miniscule hatch rate or he isn't raising call ducks. :p

So I have these options with trouble from what I'm reading it appears from time to time that pure breeds will occasional get slipped tendon. That's good to know I guess it was my time lol

Slipped tendon could be an issue with not enough vitamins OR it could be genetic.

i don't think I'm dealing with a genetic issue becuase then I read how both legs will be affected, with trouble its only one. So I'm gonna have to go with lack of vitamins at the time he was born, which is a very hopeful thing for me becuase now I feel more comfortable on giving him a family. Yeah although he maybe be a she not sure yet still. Lol

Fun fact;

ducks can fly with one leg and can't without a tail.
