Call Ducks Finally Hatched

okay guys just thought i would share this with you. so one of my buff geese has broken her bottom beak split down the middle and missing the corner piece. Saturday we took her to the vet to see if the vet could make her more comfortable with some painkillers or anything. The vet told us something different asking if we had brought any food for her and i was caught off guard asking why we needed to bring food and she said "Ohh she has to go into surgery " And we were like, what!? She told us that the bottom bill was unstable and rocking up and down when ever she talked or drank, so she is going to put something in her beak to make it stable. idk what it is they are gonna put there they rushed us out of the examination office because she was attacking everybody.

Anyway, we took her home after explaining that we were not prepared for surgery and that we had no food or anything like that ( btw they charged us 46 dollars for just showing up at the vet they did nothing,except look at her talk. but im still happy with my vet, just sayin).

So we got home and she is due for surgery at 8:00 on either friday or monday.

Eh, I've heard good and bad things about the hovabator. There's an excellent product rating section right here on BYC, I'm pretty sure they rated this thing so I'd go check it out! It's made of styrofoam, which right off the bat I don't trust. Easily breakable, and not great at maintaining consistent temps.

Honestly, I'd go with the Brinsea. If I could go back in time and do it all over again I'd have bought it instead of my rcom mini, if only for the larger capacity and the ability to manually set the temp and humidity levels. If I had I might have 6 developing eggs right now instead of just 3 ;-;

I'm gonna have to OBJECT, to what you are saying. I use a hover and it's been the best investment for me. Besides my three homemade ones, I LOVE MY HOVER. I wouldn't trade it for the world and if it every breaks down, I would purchase another in a heartbeat. It's ALWAYS been faithful, reliable with all my hatchings..

and STYROFOAM, is NOT a bad thing.

$46 is not terrible! I think its a just fine price. Talk about 200 dollars for just showing up when the vet comes to look at my cows! But he lives about an hr away. My local vet is on maternity leave....

I have 4 call eggs. There due dates will be diffrent. I put them all in while still being warm. Just laid. I have a theory that they will hatch better. I put banti cochin eggs to hat h the time as each duck hatches so they each have hatch mates. I have a smaller incubater for lockdown. My hens are snowey and white. My drakes are magpie and butterscotch. I am so excited!!! fingers crossed for a good hatch.
DID SOMEONE SAY MMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote: Well we used about 50 dollars on gas just to get there and then 50 dollars back to get home soo yeah

Putting eggs in sooner than later will indeed give you a better hatch rate, but it's actually kind of a bad idea to stagger a hatch like that! See, by time the oldest egg's going into lockdown, the youngest may still need several days of turning and lower humidity. So you risk either having a shrink-wrapped baby, or a sticky one. Both can be equally deadly.
Nope she's good, she has more then one bator..
