People aren't ducks. I was just quoting what I read in the book that everyone recommends for new duck owners. My breeder gave me the same advice, and he raises national champion calls. Not saying either of you is wrong, but there may be no single way that's 100% "right", either.
National Championship's or not, Time really doesn't matter, I have already tested that theory.
No people aren't ducks but when incubating we try to Play the ROLE of a duck. That's what it's all about.
okay guys just thought i would share this with you. so one of my buff geese has broken her bottom beak split down the middle and missing the corner piece. Saturday we took her to the vet to see if the vet could make her more comfortable with some painkillers or anything. The vet told us something different asking if we had brought any food for her and i was caught off guard asking why we needed to bring food and she said "Ohh she has to go into surgery " And we were like, what!? She told us that the bottom bill was unstable and rocking up and down when ever she talked or drank, so she is going to put something in her beak to make it stable. idk what it is they are gonna put there they rushed us out of the examination office because she was attacking everybody.
Anyway, we took her home after explaining that we were not prepared for surgery and that we had no food or anything like that ( btw they charged us 46 dollars for just showing up at the vet they did nothing, except look at her talk. but im still happy with my vet, just sayin).
So we got home and she is due for surgery at 8:00 on either friday or monday.

We have no idea we think she tried to eat a frozen solid muscovy egg. It's split lengthwise like a hot dog bun, so I imagine the two separated halves of her retroarticular process are making it difficult for her to eat, or do much of anything...not to mention being very painful! What on earth happened to her? The poor baby!
