clousert will you be selling any of your hatchlings? I am less than an hour from you =)
That's awesome. You're the closest I've met on here so far. More than likely yes, I will be selling some of the babies. Probably not as new hatchlings though because the eggs are mixed and I wont know who is what until they start to feather. I made the duck house big enough for 15 calls. They require a license to own here in FL which allows Fish & Wildlife to come inspect for proper living quarters. Requirement is 75 sq ft of ground space per 4 adult birds. You can get a pet only license for free but if you plan to breed or sell birds or eggs the license is $50 per year and another $50 if you plan to show them. They are supposed to be kept enclosed at all times but most dont. I believe Anconas are the same here in FL (as most all ducks are) so if you already have a game bird license you can just add the calls. Babies are also required to be pinioned, hind toe clipped off or seemless metal leg band before 6 wks of age. I chose the leg bands. No way am I removing wings or hind toes. You can check the fwc website for more info. So... with 5 calls already, 17 in the incubator and more eggs on the way, as long as all goes well with hatching I will have a few to sell.
