Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Did you use grass hay? I have grass hay in mine. I didn't put a floor in my duck house because when it gets warm out, I can take all the hay out, hose it out then let it dry out. My daughter put floors in hers. When she hoses it down, it stinks really bad.

If straw hay is better, i will get some. Couldn't hurt to make it thicker. I also put a bag of pine wood shavings in. It keeps it smelling good.
I use the straw hay because it's a little softer making it more comfortable to lay on and nest in. It's also not poking them when they do so. And it's a lot easier for them to build a nest with the straw because it's more pliable.

Hi Lori,

I am using the lazy method.

I like the pied too. So are you working with the pied to eventually get magpies? That is the color I want next. I love the way they look. I will have to set up some individeule breeding pens once I See what colors I get. I might buy some ducklings too.

Got my new incubator today. Also, ordered a dozen ancona eggs. Really can't wait to get them. I am so ready to have more duckies hatching. I'm about to be overrun with chicks, but that'll only be for about a week. :)

Oh my gosh I am dying right now!! There is a pair of blue penciled call ducks for $115 shipped!!!! It's an auction so technically could be cheaper. UGH. I WANT. Lol I need money.

What was worse is my dad was with me so of course we sat there for 10 minutes so my dad could explain exactly "where" straw comes from. Lol.

Okay I'll check TSC again, but I will die a little paying that much. Lol, straw back in IL is $3-4 a big bale. Crazy the supply and demand prices from area to area!

OK so where does Straw come from. HAHAHAA

I don't have any Pied's.

So here's my Wanna be Magpie, as you can see he has turned into a Bibbed. The cool thing about him, he has this REALLY pretty Blue color to him. Not sure where the blue came from but it's a deep blue. Very pretty..
