Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Oh man Im so sorry! Might have to wait for lori's opinion on it. I haven't had that happen either.

Seems mine either pop right out or they need help and don't absorb!

Yes that's been my only issue with hatching them. I have another going into lock down next Thur. I think that once he starts zipping I'm just going to pop him out myself. This is crazy.

Yeah after all the poultry shows I think.

Lol such is my luck! Well I still haven't heard from the guy you got yours from. So maybe he has a pair I can get.

Otherwise I suppose I can just have him pay for my magpie ducklings. That kinda takes the fun out of it, lol.

They hatch them out in the spring but then have to wait until they grow and feather before deciding which ones they're going to keep for breeding and showing and then sell the others. Even if they know by summer it's too hot to ship. Allows for advertising and taking down payments to be ready to ship in the fall. I'd keep looking. You might find some before it gets too hot. There shouldn't be a deadline on when you have to buy the gift by lol

My 2nd one, due to hatch today did the same thing. Woke up this morning to find that he had zipped 1/2 way around the shell sometime during the night but then quit. I don't understand it. This really sucks. Any suggestions? Temp stays 100-101, humidity around 60-65%. I'm a little lost. When I opened him he was slightly damp but not sticky at all, fully absorbed, didn't seem to be stuck to the shell or membrane at all. Should I bump humidity higher? I just don't know. Never had this problem before. ???

HUM sometimes they are just to weak to finish, but you may want to bump that up try 65 70

is this a CALL? Did he make any noises? Did he crack? Did he internally pipped?

REMEMBER calls have those little beaks and small necks, unless he's been trying for over 24 hours and it's been past his due date, got to get that safe hole going and be ready to assist.. Sometimes Calls can't make it out on there own.. and they will give up. Sadly they do that's when you need to step in and help..

Lol he's going to pay for my magpies. I ordered a dozen plus call duck eggs off eBay. They have butterscotch so hopefully I'll get some out of the eggs. Ordering a dozen from someone on here too with silvers. Love them.

I am so sorry. I was checking because you had one due today. Is is heatr breaking when they get so close you are sure they are going to make it.

Gasp! Who?! Me?? NO.

Oh I forgot to add there's another dozen eggs on eBay I'm buying.....

And that I'm considering only have a small flock of Anconas, like 2 drakes and 8-10 hens.

And instead I'm going to build up the call duck flock.

OMG, the DISEASE HAS KICKED INTO OVERDRIVE.............
