Call Ducks Finally Hatched

There are 3 of us here that sell call eggs for around $20 for 6+ eggs (myself, peachncrm37 and lacrystol). They can be difficult to hatch but it depends on where in the incubation process that you're running into difficulty. Would need more info in order to assist

Okay well I put about tens eggs in the batar (lil giant) I used a turner an at day 7 candled and all but two were firtile. Then about day 14 when I candle they still looked good. Then just before lock down all of them died so when I candle the whole egg was all dark. And this happened 3 time. Maybe I should just buy live birds ducklings/adults?!?!

Problem number one you used a turner. Call duck eggs typically die unless they are rotated horizontally. I have tested this 3 times now and all eggs on the turner died so I feel fairly confident that this is true.

What did you run your humidity at during incubation?

During lockdown?

Did you take them off the turner? Again, something that will kill them.

At what day did they die?

Did they internally pip?

Did any externally pip?

Did you open them up to see what the issue was?

Did you get all three batches of eggs from the same source or different source?

I think the oldest I've done is 10 days. Will keep you updated though!!!

I have done the 14 days and it's kind of like a 50/50 chance. Some of mine developed and some was completely clear.

What do you mean?

Are you using still? Are you using the dry method, are you sponging them? Can't really answer your humidity question until we get more information on how you are incubating.

Mary and Margaret have spent the last two days outside. I have been bringing them in at night. They are still wary of the rest of the flock. Since one is a duck and the other a chicken,( they are always together) They don't fit in with either group. I put water in a grain bowl for Mary, but the other ducks get it all dirty after a few minutes, so she needs a bath when she comes in for the night.

Hey maybe I should section off a place just for the young ones until they get adjusted. Yea! that's it.

Sometimes the eggs I collect are a little dirty. Might be duck poo I think. They don't develop if I set them like that, or even if I rinse them a bit. Should I throw those away? What about that egg wash you can get?

NO you can't wash them, HOWEVER, I have read but never tried it, get your self some Warm water, Has to be Warmer then the egg itself, then you can clean it off, this will open up the Pores in which you need in order for it to get the right amount of oxygen.. I have thrown dirty eggs in my bator and it's never been a problem...

Does any one know where I can get CHEAP call eggs or ducklings? I have tried to hatch a about 30 eggs at like three diff times.
Any tips?

OK, what is happening??? are they just dying off? or not developing???? How are you incubating?

OK first of all how do you have them SET on the turner? Upright or do you have them Flat? Are you taking them Off the turner for lockdown? What is your humidity at at the time of lockdown? What is your Temp at?

Do you have forced air or still?

Nope. Next bator is going to be the janoel JN24, it has turners so that the ends lay down.
