Silkies come in all colors. I only know which are which because the breeder marked the eggs. Even with that, I had another hatch out that looks just like 1 of the silkies so now I can't tell them apart lol.

In this picture 1 is a silkie and 1 is not
Awe lol. I got some too but only one egg is still going. That's forcing me to get more cause I can't have just one silkie!!! I'm assuming yours are from Alison too? My batch from her is due to hatch in roughly a week!! I'm so excited.
Yes from Alison. I put 2 in the incubator and 2 under a broody hen. The 2 in the incubator hatched but I'm not sure about the 2 under the broody. She's still sitting on the nest so not sure which eggs hatched yet. I took 5 babies from her yesterday and she had at least 4 more babies when i peeked in on her today so we'll see. I'll let her keep setting for now. So I'm at 11 babies in the brooder and at least 4 with momma for a total of at least 15 lol.
Awww. Poor babies. So sorry to hear that. I used a broody chicken momma to hatch out a call earlier this year but my barnevelder rooster had killed it and 1 of the chick babies before I got home from workGRRR momma call is down to four babies, they all went into the big coop here they are:Mamma to the left, papa in front guarding and all six babies in the food dish. LOL I thought they are all going to be OK, Well I forgot I have a Hen and Rooster problem. i have been locking momma and babies up in the separate coop NOT in this coop reason was because three hens and a rooster have been attacking the baby ducks and injuring them. Well STUPID me forgot about this so I left them there in the big coop overnight. Sure ENOUGH two babies were dead the next morning. GRRRR. WONT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!!! So back into there Safe Coop they go...
I don't even know how many I have anymore. Been hatching and selling them like crazy. They sell better as feathered out Juvies though.
I just hatched out five from shipped eggs, two are magpie/Ancona marked chocolates. Super excited about that.
The pieds from you are just beautiful. I cannot wait until they start laying, I know technically that will be next year but you never know with our Florida weather they may lay this year.
I've been on a 4 day hatch fest and I'm exhausted lol. I honestly don't know which ones are the silkies. I can't tell :/ I know all 4 silkie eggs hatched but that's all I know. I put some eggs under momma and some in the incubator too. Momma hatched 7 originally and I took 5, leaving her with 2 yesterday. Today she had 5 again so she hatched out a total of 10. When I went out to check on the 5 with momma during a rain storm today she had them out in the pouring rain, 2 of them were completely soaked and just laying in the middle of the run shivering so I had to take the 5 from her. The 1 was pretty limp so I wasnt sure if he was going to make it. I put the 2 soaked babies in a small box under the heat lamp and hoped for the best. About an hr later they were dry and the 1 was up and about but the little limp guy still just laid there. I left them for a bit longer and checked on them about an hr later. They were both up and about so I let them out with their other clutch mates. So with the 6 that hatched in the incubator I now have 16 babies in the brooder lol. All are doing well. They are so darned cute. There's so many it's hard to keep track of who's who in the brooder lol. I had to set up a 3rd brooder and separate all the chicks out lol. I took some more pictures though![]()
