Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I do have some juvies and 2 adults for sale if anyones looking. My girls are done laying for the season and I'm wrapping up hatching. So everyone that won't be needed or used for next breeding season will need new homes. Feel free to message me for details!

Clousert, I didn't get any. The few that did hatch didn't make it (2 died mysteriously, the other 2 that hatched didn't make it when I moved them out of my basement and into the coop.)
The rest didn't do well at all hatching. But I am definitely going to try from you again next year! And let me know if you want more silkie eggs next year. We can trade

Sorry to hear that none of them made it. I usually keep mine inside until they're almost fully feathered but with my father being so sick and in the hospital I was spending so much time there everyday that I had to put them outside into the coop before they had feathers. I had 5 that didn't make it. Since I don't have any silkies now that they're feathered I'm assuming that the 4 that hatched were amongst the 5 that didn't make it :(. I absolutely hate losing a baby that to lose 5 just broke my heart. I lost several chicken babies too. Between my father and that it was probably one of the hardest months I've ever had to endure. Last week I was unsure if my father was even going to make it. Thank god he did and finally got to come home this week. Now I just have to worry about getting him healthy again and getting some meat back on his bones. He's 6'2" and has dropped to 135 lbs. He hasn't eaten anything while hospitalized for the last month so it will be a challenge to rebuild his appetite. We're starting slow but we'll get there. IV feedings while in the hospital just doesn't cut it and now he has no appetite. 4 or 5 bites and he's full. He can't afford to lose any more weight so just have to keep on him to eat several times a day which he hates. But I will do whatever it takes. Stubborn man LOL.

Anyway... I will gladly swap again with you next year as I would really love to have some silkies. If you hatch out any I may even be open to swapping youngsters or juvies. Have a great night.

I am hatching Cochin and dutch banties. I am trying to breed each generation smaller. and mixing in banties with orange and light cream colors. just a little project for me. Hatching out eggs becomes an obsession. Just gotta hatch something.

I found that the Australian spotted ducks are really broody. I hatched 3 hens this year. Next year I can put eggs under  all 4.

When it gets hot again I got a portable swamp cooler. I will put it in the duck house. Maybe I could get more call duck eggs.:)

How are the mandies doing? We're you still wanting to swap this fall?

My mandy duck crushed the babies. How do feel about english orphingtons? They are a very expensive breed.

Oh no. Sorry to hear about you mandies. I've been thinking about adding jubilee, yellow/golden cuckoo, lavender and/or chocolates to the flock. Which colors do you have?

I have jubilee. They were just added. When they adjust they will start laying. I can send you a bunch of eggs. Chickens are easy to hatch.

I've always thought so too until this past month lol. I've had 2 bad hatches this month. I had 10 SFH and 2 Wheaten Ameraucana eggs that went into lockdown on Saturday. All candled good at that time but only 1 hatched. Before that I had 7 Faverolle that candled good at lockdown and only 2 hatched. Not sure what the heck is going on here. Thinking it might be time to crank my homemade incubator back up. I always have great hatches with it. It's just much bigger and I hate using it for only a few eggs. I've had a few good hatches with my hovabator but these last 2 were terrible and heart breaking as I was really looking for a few chicks of the 2 breeds to start a couple new groups. Guess I'll start up my own incubator and get some more eggs.

Congrats on the jubilees. They are very pretty and I would love to hatch some eggs. Just let me know what you want in trade and we can work it out.
