Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I will do my best. Might have to wait a bit though. I had my extra roosters in with him and they well sorta tried to mate with him and tore up all his back feathers and they stick out all over and he does not look too great

Awww. Poor boy. How could you let your little man be molested like that :/ lol

lol
Well my roosters were silkies so I thought two of them were hens and so I thought that the what I thought only male would just mate with the two hens but they were all rooster. I now have them seperated and bring in my silver/lavender buddy inside daily for a bath so he can get his feathers all together.

Lol. Silkies are so hard to sex until they're older. Glad he's on the mend :)

LOL cracking it is the quickest way to tell.

So do you plan on continuing to collect even after once you have those in the bator? because if you wait two weeks for the ones in the bator and realize they aren't any good, the eggs that you have collected during that time, are already going to be two weeks old and the older they are the chances decrease. and once you put them in the bator, you shouldn't continue to add eggs, then you will run into problems because they will have different due dates..

Just trying to help you get babies before you start bating them...

@Lacrystol This is what I am going to do. If my Perdy continues to lay me an egg every day, I'll have six on the 19th. Those will be due to hatch on the 17th of March. I'll have six more on the 25th. Those will be due to hatch on the 23rd of March. I have and will continue to date every egg. There will be two hatch dates. One week apart. And, I'll know each individual egg's hatch date. :)

They will find a dark quiet place so yes that is possible.
Humn, well I think I am just going to bring the chocolates inside to my wood shop. Right now it is -10 so I have all my silkies in my heated wood shop, all my doves, and now 2 ducks. Lol. My dad goes through about 6 huge triple walled carboard containers which fit three ducks/silkies nicely.

So does anyone know if east indie ducks and call ducks interbreed? I mean I know they can breed but do they? Like sorta with wood ducks. Wood ducks, they can breed with call ducks but if there is another wood duck they wont. Anyone know?

I'm sure they do, I'm almost positive that's how we got self-black call ducks to begin with. :) I'm just glad that you understand they're two different breeds, I've met people who insist that they're the same thing!

I know! Someone close to me told me that they have emerald call ducks so I was like "cool I have to see these!" Well turns out they were just east indie ducks

. Trying to decide to get black east indies or not. They would have to go in with my call ducks and I dont want mixes so I am not sure...

If you want to keep your calls pure, don't. That's a surefire way to get a whole buncha different genes all mixed up and you won't really have calls anymore, let alone be able to predict their color patterns. :p
