maybe, some ducklings mature faster than others in the egg in my experience, but then again calls seem harder to hatch than mallards.

Im so worried about them flying off though, i know some ducks even with their wings clipped cn still fly sometimes, maybe ill get the vet to clip them when i go in for the check up.

I don't clip mine at all and yet last year I did have 10 fly off, but the bonus on not clipping them was when our nasty fox came around, they were able to get away easy. SO there's some advantages and disadvantages on clipping them.

I've had her third egg in for 2 and a half hours. It hasn't started 'sweating' at all. If it did freeze outside, is there a chance it could thaw out and still hatch? Or is that just wishful thinking?

None of my eggs sweat usually, they just don't idk why but they might and i just don't notice.

Yeah, I've never seen an egg sweat either. I'm just really hoping her egg didn't freeze. And if it's fertile, that it'll hatch and be healthy

If the egg froze it will not be viable and will not grow. You can not do lockdown for 1 set of eggs while the other set is not ready. The increase in humidity will cause extra fluid build up in the eggs that aren't ready and the babies in those eggs will likely drown. If you want to do staggered hatches you will need a 2nd incubator for lockdown/hatching

Okay, thanks. I don't know if the egg is frozen, it was really cold, there weren't any cracks or anything though. It's indefinitely going in the incubator and if I learn it had frozen and it isn't viable, I will discard it. Praying it didn't freeze.

Ok first rule in Silkie, they must have five toes, this is there trait, they are the only chickens with five toes,

Second, they must have black skin, any other color like green feet or yellow is a default, no good for breeding or showing.

Third must have blueish earlobes and blueish waddles.

Fourth there combs have to be a walnut shape, although my girls you can't see there's lol

Five thing they have to have fluff no straight feathers, although some boys can get away with a few. For showing people will pluck out the straight feathers which can cause them to bleed but when you want perfection you do what you got to do to win.. One reason I don't care to show..

That's the basic, if they don't have those things right off the bat, they are pet quality.

Then you get into more detail traits such as tail set, wing set etc..

OK thanks! I know some of the showgirls have pink and black skin. All have 5 toes. Will have to check on those other traits. Thanks for the help!
