Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Okay y'all, ALL 6 of my Perdy's first ever laid eggs are definitely fertile!

If you remember, I could've sworn by this much (cause of how much my boogers LOVE to mate as well as how long they've been mating) but then I candled them and the very first egg was the only egg that didn't have a blood ring. I candled tonight (day 5) and I definitely saw veins but @Lacrystol this is where I need your help. It does look slightly different than the others, I guess the best way to try and describe it is that, it's looser? I hope there's not a problem with the air cell or something and that it has already 'quit'

Would it be beneficial if tomorrow night, when I candle again, I take a few pictures for you to try and see? I am PRAYING he or she pulls through!
If you can give me a pic of it, That would be Helpful.

WOO! Congrats! As for me, I candled tonight and saw 2 out of 6 eggs had a little red dot! A third was iffy, I think it had a dot but it was hard to tell from the writing on it. The other three I saw bubkis, but I'll wait until day 7 to be sure.

Day 4 will Definitely Tell you a lot.

EGG ONE HAS A HEARTBEAT!

(I just candled it again, I couldn't wait until tomorrow night, had to get an even better look at the little booger) All 6 are alive, well, and growing! I couldn't be happier! Now if I can do my best to keep them all alive, well, and growing until they hatch! I'm worried ab egg one's air cell though. It's just not as defined as the others, or maybe it is. I'm not really sure. The egg is just much more... liquidy...I don't understand.

Once they grow the air cells will stick, but if you are seeing water? we must see a pic, that could be an issue. He could be retaining to much water.

Hi Amykins, I have seen them mating for many months (6-7 months). Recently I have seen the smaller/lighter duck on top of the bigger one. This is new, it has always been the bigger one on top, (pic/the one in front)
I seperated them last night & got only one egg from the smaller duck, (the one in the back/pic) the one I have been palpating & feeling an egg inside her. The bigger duck I have not felt an egg inside her/him, but I will seperate them again until I find out who is laying & who is not or if they both are laying.
They are 9 months old. They are fawn & white Indian runners, I love them, they are so friendly and trusting & entertaining.

The duck in the back is the one I am feeling an egg inside her. Last night she layed an egg. Can u see the difference in the shape & color of the eggs? The eggs on the right are more round & the ones on the left are a little bigger & have a pointy end & they have a green tint to them. I have always gotten the round eggs, the green eggs are a new addition!
I am thinking I have two hens now, when all these months I thought I had a hen & a drake!
Do hens mount each other?
Do you have a breeder, or are you a breeder? If I do have two hens I would like to get a drake!
Thank you so much for all your help, comments & suggestions.
FYI, Rounder eggs have been known to be Hens and Pointy eggs have know to be Drakes.

Lol, wow! That is endless! Okay, everyone that is expecting babies, post how many are in your bator, the color or possibility of colors, and when your hatch date is! Not only am I just curious and excited for us all, we can give each other constant encouragement and any helpful tips or advice throughout as well!

I have FIVE more days left, in this batch is nine of them bated regularly and 1 was my experiement egg. So Will see how all goes.. that doesn't count the others that I just threw in there and more waiting to be put in. LOL

I have the hatching disease

And it's contagious! :p

Very exciting! I have two questions (I probably shouldn't have to ask, sometimes I over think things though) 1) Are you suppose to count the day you put the eggs in the incubator? 2) For lock down, does it start three days before the hatch date or is the hatch date included?

Four days before hatching day, I no longer turn them, I still treat them the same keeping humidity at zero and if it's Wednesday I will mist them, three days before hatching day then I lock mine down and raise that humidity. I keep the Larger end Slightly higher then the smaller end to help avoid upside downers.

I figure mine out by looking at my calendar, Lets say I put them in on March 1 if you look underneath march 1, 1 week brings you to March 8th, Then I go down again March 15 there's two weeks, March 22 three weeks which is 21 days then count 5 days to give you 26 days for Call. that brings you to March 27th..

24 hours? I thought it depended on what time you put them in. Storey's guide says if they go in early in the morning, than that's day 1, if it's in the evening or at ntight then the following morning is day 1. You're the one with all the ducks though, so I guess you'd know. :p

It doesn't matter what time, Time has nothing to do with hatching. Have you ever seen a duck look at her watch? NOPE, ducks go by days not time.. That's so silly..

1 day is 24 hrs. If they went into the incubator in the early morning then yes you would count that as day 1 because they were in the whole day. If not then the following day would be day 1.

Time doesn't matter, you could put an egg in the morning and one in at night and guess what? 26 days later, they all will hatch. Your not going to have one hatch early in the morning and another at night. They all have different processes, I would NOT keep track of the time they were put in, keep track of your days, That's the most Important thing, making sure you have the EXACT day.
