Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Here's the little fellow on the right who hatched out this hatch with the 2 that hatched out 10 days ago. He sure is a strong and hardy little guy, has the loudest litte peep ever! Guess the survivors of LG incubators are probably the strong and hardy stock.

Here's my new batch started this a.m. 21 eggs, all that my 2 hens have laid in the past month, will go less humidity this hatch. The last incubator batch of the year, June 30th due date.

I guess you are aware that viability decreases as eggs get that old? But its not unheard of, so I wish you the best! Did you mark the day they were laid? Would love to know how old the oldest one that hatched was.

Got home from work last night, this egg was pipped this much but duckling dead, the outside of the shell where pipped was hard as a rock, like a coating of varnish had been applied,, i'm just assuming this is from 'sticky' drying out. If i had been home instead of at work probaby could have saved this one. Will have to take a couple of vacation days off next hatch days.

Aweee the poor thing, sooooo close.

Agree less chance for those eggs that are a month or so. Also less chance if they haven't been turned at least once a day because the yolk will just stick to the side of the shell and apparently they don't do very well once that happens.

Really don't know for sure when any individual egg was laid, just kept picking up eggs and putting them into dog house nests when i would find them. On day 10 when they are candled, the ones that might be to old will get tossed, but hopefully 1/2 of them at least will be fertile and growing.with blood vessel's showing.
