Call Ducks Finally Hatched

A friend wanted Calls, so I got eggs from clousert... had 4 hatch from my first try at Calls, shipped even, lol... then a couple more from her, 1 from minihorse... then I bought a flock from minihorse... still have the first hatched from my first batch... and I never did get him any Calls...

LOL does that mean your Greedy???? LOL...

I dont have any calls...yet...
But my first ducks and chickens came from my sister in law. Extra males that she had, and I wanted ducks for my pond at camp. She brought me three drakes... and 5 roosters! Lost 3 roosters to predators before we got everything secure. Killed one for his mean antics a couple months ago, still have the last one. Lost the 3 drakes last winter, horrible snow storm. Hatched my own last March, still have all of them. Chicken math hit hard after that

I never knew poultry could live so long having a Muscovy drake going on 12 this coming march. My dh says you know we thought for sure the last 2 winters we'd lose him.not from sickness just from being frail not molting any more things like that. but he has proved us wrong both years. He thinks Ernie will out live us lol I'd love to see some pics of your Butter scotch colored Calls. I am not sure I have seen that color

Actually, I hatched all drakes from clousert so was trying to get them some girls, lol... and after I found out what he wanted to do with the Calls, I refuse to give him any...

UH OH< that does NOT sound good on that guys end???? OUCH. I sadly gave one of my butterscotches to someone( I had three) and he told me it had disappeared. Well needless to say a relative mentioned to him that he had always wondered what a Duck would taste like. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out...

Can't be good tasting because calls are small, not a lot of meat on them..

Nah, not that... he was just gonna dump them on his grandma's farm to fend for themselves... no shelter, no protection, and we have tons of predators... they just wouldn't last long...

I know even when we try our best, predators can still figure out ways to get to them, but I just feel it is wrong to lay out a cute little buffet for an all you can eat predator diner...

I got some eggs from @clousert when I lost about 10 calls, they just took off and never returned, she was sooooooo KIND to send me some eggs. I can't remember exactly how many I hatched out but I still have them.. I apparently keep all my babies if they come from someone else, the only time I will sell them off is if my current flock has eggs. Then I will pop them in the bator but all the old folks (46 calls now) they are here to stay.

I'm still waiting for ONE of them to POP out a magpie, I know it's coming, I KNOW IT IS..

I HEAR YOU. My husband is regreting the fact that he allowed a HAWK to kill and eat one of my hens (chicken) He thought if he let him eat her, he would stay away for a while.
YEH RIGHT, now the hawk has made guard way. YEH, when my husband goes out there to chase him off, The hawk will NOT leave and put up his GUARD..

Husband against Hawk? WHO will win LOL
