Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I wouldn't stick anything to the shell, ever... gas exchange within the egg is important for proper development...

I use the grip tight shelf liner across the bottom of my bator on top of the mesh... you could use a much bigger piece and bunch it up in spots to elevate the ends...
I recommend putting that stuff across the mesh anyways, had a Call get his bill stuck in one of those tiny squares...

I've Taped my eggs to the turner so that they are laying down and once hatching time, I put them on the bottom but take out all the tray's that I can, I have to keep the turner in but shut off, I keep like one or two trays in there for the weight other wise the wire flooring curls up..Never thought about putting a piece of shelf liner down for them. HUMM GREAT IDEA just don't know if it will be heavy enough for that wire flooring which apparently has to be in there..

yall would all agree that silkies usually hatch on day 19 right?

no, I have had some hatch on day 21 and even later. I dont' incubate chicken eggs, I let my girls do that work. LOL

mine usually hatch a couple days early and i am thinkin about throwin some in with my duck eggs and i want to line them up on time

You could but you have to time it just right, but it will all depend on your process as well? Process as to how your incubating the ducks versus the chickens.

Yes and NO, I have hatched chickens with duck eggs. Chickens are a lot easier though

Plus if you have to assist the Calls, the chickens will get shrinkwrapped...

I mixed my last hatch, and I won't likely do it again. I think certain chicken breeds would be ok with duck eggs, but definitely NOT silkies.

LOL, I have done silkies with ducks. The process is about the same it's all on how you do the process.
