Yes..my hubby was massaging him down so I think it probably broke up whatever was there. This baby scared me to death!!!! And now I am watching it eat with paranoia...poor baby! Thank you so much   I have been checking out so many threads on duckling care..my head is spinning!

I understand completely! Had a few scares like that, and my Peg likes to gulp food on a regular basis like that... necessity has made me a pro at getting food down the crop... :/

I suspect we are going to become very familiar with this as well if this baby does it often. He seems to be doing better about taking some food...and then some water so hopefully it won't happen again

I am just learning about duck care and researched so much before they hatched...but I guess you can't be prepared for everything

Think I am gonna be up every few hours tonight to watch over this baby

The whites are pretty stunning. One is alot bigger than the other. I suspect I have a pair, least I hope.

The blue fawns are gorgeous too, I'm suspecting a trio!

2 silvers, also possible pair. 2 greys, dare I hope for another pair!! The pieds, I'm not guessing yet lol!

Ermywerd. My Io's gc is with Nat. She totally looks just like my Io. Note her slenderness of bird. Other than the obvious, her features match my godchild's. Thank you for the tag, Rav.

The tuft on the head is a crest... crested ducks *can be* prone to neurological issues, just an fyi in case you run into any...

Brooder doesn't need to be quite as warm as for chicks and you can wean them off the heat a bit quicker too... water setup is the biggest difference... they need a deeper waterer, deep enough to dunk their heads in and clean out their nares and eyes... best to put their waterer on a shallow pan, like a baking dish, with mesh across the top to catch all the water waste so it doesn't soak their brooder...

Also, what are you feeding them? Ducks have a Niacin deficiency and most chick starter doesn't contain enough for ducks, even when it says for chicks and ducklings...

Ok...so I had to get regular chick feed this time. The TSC was out of the purina one I got the first time. So...for my ducklings I got the powdered brewers yeast to put in their food. From what I could find...it said one tablespoon per cup of feed. Is that correct? Also, I couldn't find how often? Is it supposed to be in their feed everytime they eat.....or just once a day?

Correct, 1 tblspn per cup of feed... every time you feed them...

Thank you!!!!! I have hatched out ducks for friends but never kept them after hatch...they always wanted them as brooder babies. But this time...they want them all feathered out, so of course I said....SURE I can take care of the until then

Learning as I go! So, is this something you add to their feed forever? Or until a certain age? Want the best for these babies!
