Calling all NEW Brinsea Eco owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a few eggs, the MiniAdvance, or if you have the money, the MiniAdvance EX model. Love 'em both. It's a nearly fool proof incubator, and with the humidity pump (the EX model), it's STUPID proof!!

For more eggs, up to 24, the Octagon20 Advance EX (I don't have the ECO model, I went all the way to the EX on the Octagon).

I,ve not hatched before....do you recommend humidity pump and/or the ones with turners?
thanks
Ginny

Yes. The Advance models have the auto-turner, and the EX models have the humidity pump. The latter is quite pricey, but if you can afford it, go for it. I live alone and there's nobody to check on the humidity for me, plus I can be forgetful, so this was the best option for me. I work during the weekdays, 10 hour days... so I needed that extra assistance.

the octagon advance ex in on sale for $399 plus S+H hhhmmmm.........I did get a bonus this year.........hhhmmmm.....ok I am lusting for it!!!

All Brinseas are excellent bators.

However if I was to spend 400 bucks for one small bator paying extra $300 a few bells and whistles I 'd rather buy 4 ECO 20's (quadruple capacity) or brinsea 40, or a cabinet bator.

Without splitting hair Brinsea ECO 20 will give you excellent hatches if you just fill one well with water during incubation, and both wells at lockdown period.

You can check the humidity, but unless you live in extreme humid or extreme dry climate your humidity will be in the prescribed area using this simple system.

Anyway after several hatches I still have my humidity gage inside but if I did not it would not make a difference since it never went out of prescribed bounds using 1 well for incubation and the 2 wells during hatch.

Also I turn my Brinsea ECO 20 at random by hand, nothing wrong with autocraddle but myself and many others consistently got hatches just as good as with autoturner.

Also manual turning makes you pay attention to the eggs, check the temp, humidity, and making sure you got potential dudes out before they spoil your hatch.

pasopol..thank you for your input. The 40's will be too big (I only have three hens I want eggs from) I was originally looking at the minis, but thought that next year that will be too small. I am worried that since I haven't done this before the "brisea for dummies" might be my best option. But if it is not so difficult, I certainly would like to spend less!!!! Any other opinions!! I prefer to learn from YOUR mistakes (or experiences)!!! More opinions anybody????
