So excited!

Last night I set 7 eggs in my new Oct 20 Eco, I am keeping it small for my first attempt. I used used rocks to hold my spacing, hopefully they will act as heat sinks, I heat with wood so my house temp fluctuates greatly.

I'm on my third set of eggs hatching already in my brinsea mini, lol. I used to hatch in a homemade incubator (ugh) and the brinsea is so easy I just can't stop!!!

I just wish the sun would come out because my flock wont step out of the coop if it isn't and the rooster doesn't seem to be doing his job when they stay in. Either that, or the cold is messing with the fertility of the egg. However I have put warm from the hen eggs into the bator with no apparent difference. So out of all my eggs that i've put in the mini I've only gotten 3 chicks!

So I think I will hatch out this current batch, due Feb 5 or so, but I think only one is viable.

Then be very diligent and collect warm eggs for the next batch

I have to say I gulped when I saw rocks in there! Id be afriad the eggs would move when being tilted and crack on the rocks--can you use folded pieces of carboard?? bubble wrap in a folded manor??? anything other than a rock??

I couldn't wait any longer!

I put a dozen Coturnix eggs in the bator and on Friday I will put in the Lav Ameraucanas and BLRW eggs. I guess that means I HAVE to buy another incubator to use as a hatcher. Oh Darn. Giggle.

Mine is supposed to be here on Thursday as well. They are probably travelling together - same destination!

I'm going to set my eggs on Saturday, so they hatch on the weekend and I won't be missing it being at work.

sonew123 - I did put some cardboard in to separate the eggs from contacting the rocks, thanks for your concern. I am gently turning by hand 3 times a day so there is no chance that anything is going to shift unexpectedly.

Just to let you know. The Brinsea's a made so that hand turning is unnecessary, hence the shape of the incubator. Just lean the incubator on the front for a few hours the back to center for a few then lean to the back for a few then back center and so on. You turn the whole incubator unlike other models where you have to turn each egg. Just a heads up.
