I had the same problem. During lockdown which wasn't really lockdown because I too was having to open it to add more water. I never got the humidity higher than 50%. Have you tried to open the vent up some more? If you figure out how to get the correct humidity please let me know. Once, I gather enough eggs I'm gonna fire it up again. Thanks 7L

Im on my 2nd batch in the 40. Right now the humidity is 65% and I just added more water I have wells filled with wicks in two wells and 2 sponges! I cant do much more than that-if I open the vents even a little-the humidity goes fast! I only open the vents when they start to hatch:-(
What about putting it in a closet so it has its own microclimate, maybe a small humidfier. I have a 20 and have to put it in a closet to keep my nose off it.
Help, help, help!!! I have a several lockdown questions...
Question 1: My Auto-Turn will stop at "Day 2", which will be this evening around 5pm PST. That will be the completion of incubation day 19. I see posts all over BYC talking about going into lockdown at day 18. Should I trust my incubator and wait until it stops turning to go into lockdown? Or should I shut it down this morning and go into lockdown?
Question 2: I just added a tiny hygrometer (which I calibrated) and discovered, much to my horror, that my humidity has been too high with water in one side of the reservoir. So I've just added a few drops here and there to try to keep it around 50%. When I went into lockdown BEFORE, I always filled both sides of the reservoir. Now I don't know if I should just fill one side or if I should do both. If I fill both and the humidity is too high, can I quickly take the lid off and soak up 1/2 of the water? And is the ideal humidity for lockdown 70-75%?
Question 3: I have one egg that I'm pretty sure is a quitter. Should I take it out at lockdown or leave it in the incubator?
I'm definately not a pro at this but here's what i did: Day 18 removed the auto craddle, took the racks out, layed eggs on their side, & added some water, closed the vent some. I never could get the humidity above 50%. I was some what succesful 31 out of 48 but one died at birth. But my temps were 103 the first 8 days. I never candled are took any eggs out until they started stinking on the 22nd day.Thats my story & I'm sticking to it & Good hatching to you.
