Calling all Penedesencas Owners/Breeders

Pics
So do we want to go with Catalan Breeds Club of America currently to get something up and going? And if it needs changed later make the necessary changes then? It would be a Start.

Keep in mind that Prat is also a Catalan Breed and is already APA approved, so the focus for this Club would be the promotion of the Dark Egglaying Catalan Breeds. Penedesencas and Empordanesas and their feather colors.

I think Blackhorsehill already has some History researched on the Pendesencas, possibly it would be nice to have that included somewhere on it.

A Breeders List for sure, with the date and feather color, also it would be a good idea for some of us that aren't currently breeding because of lack of foundation birds to list themselves as Raising instead of Breeding, then we can see where birds are needed and of what particular feather color, just a thought. If anyone else sees a better way of doing it, please speak up. As this would be a great time for Input on everyones thoughts, since we are making this a combined effort.

I think the one thing we all agree on is this is for the Preservation and Promotion of the Dark Egglaying Catalan Breeds. Also this is not to be a Conflict with any of the other Members of the other Penedesenca group, their Input should be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

I say Elias work your Magic!!!

Anyone else?

I think this direction is great and I would like to support it any way that I can. I guess I would be "Raising Crele" but with the help of this group and some years under my belt I aspire to breeding!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I too am Raising currently: Black Hens and one Partridge Hen, recently acquired chicks from Meyers and don't know yet if they are Pure Penedesencas or if they are Wanna Be's

I plan to start breeding this summer, and have located Black Cockrels of breeding age, so plans are for the Summer for Breeding.

I also have plans to get some Empordanesas soon.

I am still looking to add other Texans to our breeding projects. I am donating some eggs and, have gotten a few people at an upcoming show, Wanting to learn more on penedesencas. I'll keep you all updated on my progress.

Total our flock combing consist or 20-25 adult fowl Black Penedesenca, and 50 chicks or so.

So we're bringing them back slowly but surley.
Were sort of thinking of making a small Texas breeders club and see where it goes.
Right now our egg color ranges from 3 - 6 & 7 on the Marans chart.

Also Off the Subject, I have a friend hatchig out Bantam size Marans eggs and they are all fertile and from large fowl. So I am hoping to make and hatch bantam Marans just for fun.

Josh,

I hope you keep those Black birds going. They are an important part of this effort.
And there is much appreciation for you starting this thread. As well as the contributions to the History of the Breed that you know.

Off topic: I think I have been in contact with your friend, if his name is Morales. He was going to send me pictures of his birds and hasn't so far.
