Calling all pictures of Barnevelders

I only have one barnie... Here's a pic of her just to share. She's currently 5 months old but hasn't started laying yet.

Yeah, the young ones are doing good. The older one that I got from you was doing really good, but apparantly a norweigen elkhound/great dane 4 year old was a bit much for her. He snapped her neck and dropped her. Apparantly he likes the squeaky toys that make noise, not the ones that are "broken". *sigh* I really kinda liked her too. But, now we pay better attention to him and just make sure he isn't left alone where the chooks are at.

Hi I was directed here from what breed is this Thread and i was wondering if anyone could help me as i am new to the Barnevelder Breed and I am trying to get as much information as possible i bought this gorgeous boy out of a handy trader for 15 dollars and i thought that was quite cheap for a Pure Bred bird and was wondering if anyone could tell me if he is of poor quality or he is pure bred. The photos truly dont do him justice his black feathers change from black to green to purple. His tail was a little damaged in the car ride and his legs are bright yellow and are very thick. He is 7-8months old. Here he is.

I don't know a whole lot bout barnies, as I've been watching the cochin and wyandotte threads more, but from what I've seen of my two (surviving) barnies, even if they are only several months old, don't look the same. Your roo looks more like a game cock to me.

but, as I said I could be wrong, I'm still a newbie

Pics of my Barnevelder are at the top of this page. I added another pic taken just last week while she was sitting on my arm. I just started getting eggs from her this week. I tried to get a good pic, but this is as good as I could get with my cheapie camera. The eggs are a little darker than the picture and there is some very fine spots on the eggs.

His color seems pretty good to me. I believe that Barnevelders in Austrailia can have lacing showing on the breasts on the roos. Barnevelder roos in the USA are supposed to have solid black breasts, but that may be debated as well. To me his tail and tail set needs improvement.

Thank-you Tls_ranch yer his tail looked much more impressive before the car ride he lost a few feathers, how long before they fully mature when do roosters stop filling out?

Hi i don't think he is a Dark Cornish i have looked at a few photos of them and my boy (who i have just named Albus) has a totally different comb. I am from Australia maybe the difference in the American and Australia Barnevelders are quite big.
