Calling all Project Breeders...

I have been working on a little project to make some home-made Minohikis.
I have one stag that is nice, but he needs yellow legs. Now I have some hatched out that are closer to what I want, and I need to send him on.
I have him on eggbid now. Hopefully he will sell!

When you raise chicks up, and start to cull through, what do you do with the culls (or as the case may be, the extras with nothing really wrong with them) ??

I'm starting a breeding plan to get Bantam Mille Fleur Ameraucanas. The base breeding will be a Mille OE roo over two Wheaten Ameraucana hens.

My other project is Bantam Pearl Ameraucanas. The base breeding will be a Pearl OE roo over black Ameraucana pullets.

The chicks from these crosses should still lay a colored egg, and can rightfully be called Easter Eggers. I usually end up giving away my roosters b/c no one will ever buy them

Generally, I'll either try to find them a home (by selling) or eat them. Egg layers are more easily sold, or I'll cycle them into my egg laying flock. Some I keep around just because I got too attached or think they're too interesting to let go.

Thinking about my crele-probably has silkie in him somewhere-cockeral, I wonder if I could get a true silkie with crele coloring....

Well we picked up a cute bantam barred rock pair this weekend and we are hoping to add a couple nice hens to it and have a little program going with them. Here's a pic.

And we have a young mille fleur d'uccle trio, and may add a nice hen to that so that we have more variety in the bloodlines ^^ These guys are the sweetest chickens ever! They're about 11 weeks old now. Rambo, the rooster, is hilarious and sweet, and one of the girls is so mellow she just settles down and sleeps in your hands. I love them! This picture is a bit outdated, I need some better group shots.

We are working on 3 projects this year. We have a barred rock bantam roo on black wyandotte bantam hens to make our own barred wyandottes. We also are working on dun laced wyandotte bantams. We have 3 F1 dun x silver laced pullets with a silver laced rooster and an F1 dun x silver laced roo on a silver laced hen and a dun laced hen. The third project is for bantam crele phoenix. Last year we crossed a crele OEGB roo to a light brown phoenix hen. We have the pullet from that mating and will be crossing her back to a light brown phoenix. Then we just have all the rest of the purebreeds.

I'm going to cross Blue Orpingtons and Cuckoo Marans, to hopefully make an attractive good layer of darkish brown eggs.

I think I will also try to develop a porcelain giant cochin, although that's going to take a while!

I am going to try :
Mille Fleur d'Uccles with buff bantam cochins=mille fleur cochins

White crested blue polish roo over white crested black polish bantam=white crested blue polish bantam

Crele Old English Game bantam roo with barred bantam cochins= crele cochins

blue amereaucana roo with white leghorn=blue leghorn

splash marans roo with black marans hens=blue marans

Blue orps with white plymouth rocks=blue rocks

Don't know how many I will get to, but its a wish list.

Improve my Welsummer and Gold Campine lines, restart a Maran line and continue working with a Gold Campine Buff Orpington crosses. I call them Campingtons.
