Not all people with allergies do better with a Rex.I've actaully never had a rabbit before. I've always wanted one and I've done research for over 3 years, and I'm writing an article on pet rabbit care. I've been around lots of rabbits before from animal sanctuaries and farms where I often donate DIY toys that I've made.
Though I'm looking to adopt a bonded pair now. I'm really hoping I'll be able to find a neatherland dwarf, and maybe a Holland or mini lop. I love Rex rabbits too, and I've heard that people with allergies do better with them so I'm on the lookout for a Rex too. I also love Hotots, Jersey woolies, American Fuzzy lops, and Lionheads, though the long haired breeds aren't great for allergies.

Self proclaimed rabbit care specialist and you've never owned one?I've actaully never had a rabbit before. I'm highly allergic to all hay. I feel you. Haven't had too many issues with Alfalfa yet though.
I'm also allergic to Timothy hay. And like a hundred other things but being allergic to both the rabbit and hay sucks.
When I get my dummies I'm going to use Orchard grass and see how that works. Hopefully they won't be too picky and decide not to eat it lol
So you're allergic to timothy, orchard grass, etc..?I'm highly allergic to all hay. I feel you. Haven't had too many issues with Alfalfa yet though.
Did he poopy in your house?Last I had checked on him was about 12 am.
I woke at about 4 and guess who was gone?
I woke the mini up.
We searched EVERYWHERE.
We found him under the nasty dusty stuff stashed under the mini's bed. Hims widdle butt was in the far corner just looking back at us like we were dumb.
We have been hardware clothing more of the cage and used some wood to rig it for the rest of the night.
I can't cut anymore hardware cloth now.
He is grounded.
I'm no specialist, but I've done plenty of research and know nearly everything from identifying and treating illnesses, to setting everything up (and what and why to get specific things), or bonding rabbits, etc.Self proclaimed rabbit care specialist and you've never owned one?
Wait for it.....

Bingo. So you're allergic to timothy, orchard grass, etc..?
Now I'm wondering if you are just allergic to grass hays in gereral. And since Alfalfa is a legume hay, you haven't had a problem.
Same.Bingo.
If it is grass, dusty, furry, or co gains pollen - it'll about kill me.
