100% correct. The longer rougher hairs are "guard hairs" the shorter hairs and the guard hairs are the same length on a rex because of a mutation. They're plushy not furry, makes a huge difference once you've felt one.I believe normal fur has a shorter undercoat with longer guard hairs. But rex fur causes all the fur to be the same length, resulting in a softer feel.
