Calling all veterans and family members. Allies too.

I have uncles that served in the Army in WWII, an aunt that was a WAC, an uncle, USA, that lost part of a leg in Vietnam, but my Dad, sister, brother, daughter and son-in-law are/were all USAF. Only my daughter and her husband were deployed into a war setting, but I agree with teach1rusl, when you enlist, you know the possibility exists that you may be going to war and that you may be a target anywhere because you wear a uniform. Not a day goes by that I don't pray for those serving our country, whether they serve in a "safe" or "hazardous" duty position, and for their families that serve with them.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the vets and their families for their service. NEVER believe that your service went/goes unnoticed.

Grandpa went to WWII, dad went to Vietnam. Dad says the only way anyone could tell he wasn't one of them was the fact he was much larger than the Vietnamese. Both were the only American born Chinese in their groups.

My user name "Redcatcher" is in honor of the Army Unit I served in, the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. In case anyone was wondering what it meant. I thought it would be relevant to bring it up in this thread and I changed my avatar to the Redcatcher patch.

Redcatcher,
Thank you for serving. I don't think there are a lot of Viet Nam vets around here.
It looks like the 199th is now part of the Infantry School.

My husband Bill was Spec OPs Army and a Vietnam Vet. He assed away July 12th, so after a doctors appointment in the morning (seems I've become a nut case) I'm making the 2 hour drive to take him flowers and a flag, which I do each visit. Going to spend his day with him.

Thank you to all the Vets out there....We love you!

In Canada we call it Rememberance Day and happy to say there still is a large turnout to show respect.

Two Great Uncles fought in WW1, one was gassed at Ypres but lived, the other is MIA.
One Uncle fought in WW2. Landed on the beach at Normandy.
Husbands Uncle fought all the way through Italy. He was one of the Vandoos.
Neighbor was a Helicopter Medic in Vietnam and another Neighbor was in the Korean War. Both Canadians.
A Friend fought in the Gulf War.
Another friend's Grandson had his leg blown off in Afghanistan this year.
My Brother, a career Military man did several Peace Keeping missions in the Golan Heights.
