I, for one, am very glad you both found your way to this thread. These are birds I have never seen before.

I have such boring birds most the time compared to these. Right now I have a red bellied woodpecker, a hairy woodpecker, a downey woodpecker and a nuthatch,.

My gold finches are on strike still, they are refusing to eat the thistle in the new feeder. I have 8 feeders outside my window, 3 are empty or nearly this morning 4 are about 3/4 empty and one has not been touched. The new one.

These "wild" birds are as fussy as my chickens! We think they "tell" us when they want a feeder filled. They will fly to the window and stare at us. This only happens when a feeder is empty. Sometimes they seem to knock on the window until we fill them.

Oh yes, I believe I've read about this...something about a haunting?

thanks!

i haven't seen gold finches here in a year or 2, our state bird decided our house was no good

probably because we stopped putting the feeder out because the stellars would steal food from the nice songbirds. There was this bird that i can't remember what it is called, it was orange, black, and a bit white. They were about robin sized and we beleived they ate aphids of the apple tree, or just bugs. There is a sapsucker that lived in my neighbor's tree by the fence, he is very nice and doesn't seem to mind me. We get chickadees here too, and juncos come around pretty much year round, the mallards live here year round too, equipped with names and ready for bread and healthy (well, that's what he company thinks) duck food. they sometimes sneak in the duck pen to get a snack when i am changing the duck water. Geese come here to, (with names) but usually migrate. Oh, i saw a downy and a pileated wookpecker a few times, we don't get to see them often, love em'! I saw a nuthatch this year too, and we got up 2 humming bird feeders, they attracted anna's and rufous humming birds. One, (the first one of the season) My niece named hummus

so we had to name an anna's guacamole.
