Went for a little drive on some country roads yesterday . .I saw. . .
Meadowlarks

According to bird Id I believe it is a sand piper!
It showed no the app there have been a few other sightings in the area we were in. :wee
Very cool I thought.
oh my gosh!!!!! Here's what I read about the Upland Sandpiper
"A shorebird of grasslands, not shores, the Upland Sandpiper inhabits native prairie and other open grassy areas in North America."

I'm pretty sure that's what it was. This was the match the app gave me

You might look at “solitary sandpipers” too...

...I looked briefly earlier and thought it’d be one of those too... but I’m never very good at IDing shore birds...

... I did search for “Missouri post-piper” ... but got nuthin ;)

I'm pretty sure it's a sand piper. . but which variety no telling. I might look at them a bit closer later.

On kingbirds.... any interesting note...If you ever go to a Royals baseball game watch for the “western kingbirds” that nest in the stadium... and perch on the foul ball net and eat bugs around the lights... one of the few places to see them in our state.

If I ever have the desire to go to a ball game. . it would have to be to see a bird and not the game. Lol.
