looks like a hornets nest to me? Unless I’m mistaken

I saw one in a black berry thicket about the size of a softball a month ago... I need to go back and look at it again...

The old ozarkers believed it was good luck to have a hornets nest hanging in the rafters of the house/cabin

That sounds like terrible luck to me!

I snuck away to the neighboring state today to do some float fly fishing...

caught a bunch of trout on the Norfolk river in Arkansas... landed ( and released) an exceptionally nice rainbow trout... and hooked a giant something??? But didn’t land it....

caught three species of trout ... and had a lot of fun getting sun burned in this part of the Ozarks today

no no... you’re ‘sposta catch the nest after frost ... freeze it in a trash bag... then shellack it and hang it up high to keep the bad spirits away ...

then the good luck flows in

I have, but I don’t recall hornets???

I think you’re thinking of ‘Jaws’... and that wasn’t a hornet... that was a shark

Maybe it was bees.
I just know it was an empty nest. ..
The kid put it by his bed and woke up in the night being swarmed.
Terrifying!

I read the book too. Maybe it was in the book not the movie.
I don't think it was winter when they first got to the overlook.
