Hi guys. Just dropping a note to say hey. I think its cool i found the Mo. page. Had never noticed it before.

Opened the door to let the ladies out but only a few were brave enough. Most had already roosted by the time I got home from work at 3:30. Eggs have gotten larger the last few weeks. Pleasant surprise. Maybe they are out of that toddler stage and into full blown adult eggs.

Tomorrow is day 21 for our first batch of eggs. Crossing our fingers that we get at least half to hatch. These are the silkie eggs from Florida. Gotta get some chick feed and a brooder set up for them. I have never hatched eggs that are dated a few days apart(5 to be exact). Any wise words? I know that we should leave the lid on until everyone has hatched(at least in the first batch) then quickly get them out so as not to disrupt the next batch.

Awwww You just gotta love our great state dont ya! We have went from the oven to the freezer and now we are back doin spring weather again 48 here today and going to be a low of 27! Eggs are still going good tho but I have to contribute that to the feed Im buyin special blend that i buy from a Mom and Pop feed store that is 17% Protein plus givin BOSS daily and Just started as of today feeding Kefir! Had to try it on myself first to make sure I would drink it fore I gave it to the girls!!"''

My little EE just started laying with the prettiest green eggs you ever seen!

Went out tonight to collect eggs and Had One of My faverolles on the nest and she immediately started cussing me out so I felt around under her and collected the eggs and went on about my business! went back to check on them just a few minutes ago and she is still sitting on the nest (She has always been broodie) and she started cussing at me again so i decided to check thinking maybe she had layed one of her own this time but OHHHHHHH NOOOOO!!!! SHE has decided that she is going to Sit and hatch a Golf ball that is in the nest! I called her a silly little hen and told her it was going to be a verrrrrrrrrrry lllllllllloooooonnngggg time before that would hatch! She continued to curse at me so I just left figuring that it was easier to let her have her way and not push the issued ! least I know if I ever do allow her to set eggs or raise chicks she is gonna be one Hellava good mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, Fox!!!

I feel like I've been gone for ages... Been busy at work and the net doesn't work well from the house when we are "cloudy with a chance of cold"!

The girls are doing alright in the cold. I've been trying to check them for frostbite everyday. We have a heated waterer so I'm concerned about the humidity. Does anyone else have one? It is the kind that kicks on when the external temp reaches 34.
