This is for my friend that bought on of our EE chicks we ordered online. She has one egg laying hen. She only got one chic, and it is not eating the feed yet. Can her hen raise that chick? What can she do?

A hen has to be "broody" (in a hormonal state that induces her to want to sit on & hatch eggs and raise the resulting chicks) before this would be successful. A non-broody hen will not have any maternal feelings towards chicks and will actually attack/potentially kill them.
If you have a broody hen and obtain newly hatched chicks, "grafting" the chicks onto the broody is possible, but not always successful.
You don't give any indication in the post that the hen in question is currently broody, so your friend needs to obtain more chicks (at least 2 is best so that if something happens to one chick you still have two left) and raise them in a brooder.
